Willie James
Mcclam
May 1, 1954 — Dec 13, 2025
Lake City
With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Willie James McClam, 71, of Lake City, SC, who passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Reflection of Life
It is not with deep sorrow or much fuss but rather a feeling between a rock and a hard place that we announce the passing of our dear father, Willie James McClam, a cherished resident of Montague Street and our family. Tubby, as he was affectionately called left us at the age of 71. He passed away peacefully at 5:30 am on Saturday morning, December 13, 2025, the day of the Lord, surrounded by loved ones who celebrated his life all through Friday night.
He was a devoted father to four beautiful daughters—Mattie, Dianne, Joyceann and Debbie—A devoted Granddad to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a compassionate friend and a beloved brother and uncle. His vibrant spirit touched everyone he met. Born to Elijah and Lorena McClam on May 1, 1954, he grew up adored by all his family and friends. His Daughters often thought his nephews were his brothers due to their closeness. Whether they were brothers, nephews, nieces, cousins, or friends, they all remained together. Dad enjoyed his job so much as a carpenter it became a life long hobby that no pain or sickness could take away. His hands were truly blessed.
Daddy loved riding his bike, enjoying a drink, and navigating his way back from the Juke Joint. With unwavering faith, he trusted that God would always bring him home safe. He made everyone laugh and often said, "Don't drown yourself in worry or drama.
Tubby was preceded in death by: his parents, Elijah and Lorena McClam; devoted wife, Elease McClam; one granddaughter, Jada Philips; two great grandchildren, two brothers and a sister.
Though Tubby has left us physically, his legacy lives on with us. As we gather to celebrate his life, let's do what he loved most: remember the joy and cherished memories of music and dance.
Tubby leaves to cherish his legacy: four daughters, Maydell (Fred) Morton, Dianne (D) Wilson, Joyce (Edward) Straiter and Debbie (Jacob) McClam; five grandchildren, Darrell Darby, Helen (Kiah) Darby' Tillman, Sergei Darby, Qualashia Waterman, Jauke' Waterman, Thomas Phillips Jr. (TJ) and Jayden Phillips; four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Mason, Journee and Nicco; one brother, Artis (Liza) McClam of Coward, SC; five sisters, Mary (Frankie) Wilson of Lake City, SC, Anna McFadden of Lake City, SC, Dorothy Mouron of Henderson, NC, Mae Ella (Ed) Taylor of Lake City, SC and Gloria Hickson of Florence, SC; one aunt, Rosa Davis of Scranton, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
