Life Reflections

Virginia "Duckie" James was born on July 26, 1953, to the late Mr. Roland James and Mrs. Lizzie M. James. She passed away on June 25, 2024, at MUSC hospital in Florence, South Carolina.

Virginia attended Battery Park High School, Class of 1972. At an early age, she joined Kennedyville U.M. Church, Nesmith, SC. Later, Virginia joined Trinity Believers Holiness Church where she wore many hats from the Usher Board President to Sunday School Teacher. She was a faithful woman of God and spread his words and love to everyone she encountered.

Virginia was affectionately known as "Duckie" to many, but she also had an umbrella full of titles from grandma, aunt, sister and most importantly mother. Everyone always knew Duckie was the number you called when you were hungry, sad, mad, happy or just needed a listening ear at the moment. Virginia was surrounded by many loved ones until her last breath.

Virginia was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, Ms. Louise McCrea, Mrs. Verlene Pendergrass, Mrs. Ruth McCrea Scott, Mr. Roland James Jr. and Mr. Emerson McCrea.

Loved ones left to cherish her memories are: her five sons,  Mr. Keith James of Kingstree, SC, Mr. Reggie James of Covington, GA, Mr. Armani McCrea of Kingstree, SC, Mr. George McCrea (Mercedes) and Mr. Anthony McCrea both of Gainesville, FL. Also left to cherish her precious memories are: two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Linda Fulton of Kingstree, SC, Ms. Geneva McCrea of Kingstree, SC, Mr. Randolph James (Linda) of Gainesville, FL, and Mr. Roosevelt James (Julia Ann) of Lake City, SC; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Lou Ester James of Gainesville, FL; seven aunts, Mrs. Sarah Outing (Elder William), Mrs. Doris Barr, Ms. Mary McFarlin, Ms. Alberta McCrea, Mrs. Mary Lee McCrea all of Kingstree, SC, Mrs. Deloris McCrea of St. Louis, MO and Mrs. Barbra McCrea of Columbia, SC; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a host of many close nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A special thank you to her caregiver and loving sister, Linda Fulton; special aunts, Alberta McCrea, Mary McFarlin and Doris Barr; and all other cherished family members.

The family is receiving friends and family at 72 Shady Lane, Kingstree, SC.
