Life Reflections

Veronica Elaine Brand, known to family and close friends as "Noot" passed away on July 25, 2026 due to heart complications.

Veronica was born on September 27, 1974 in Lake City, South Carolina to Jacquline Montgomery and the late Kelton Hickson. She received her formal education in the public schools of Broward County and attended Piper High School in Sunrise, Florida.

"Noot" was known for many things, outside of having a beautiful smile and an even bolder personality. She enjoyed attending church from a young age. For many years she worked as a bookkeeper and a cook at BI-LO and IGA. She was also a coach for City of Lake City Recreation Tee Ball for 5 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, often hosting parties.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by: her brother, Malachi Brand; her sister, Madelyn Brand; grandmothers, Magdalene Nelson and Elizabeth Hickson; an aunt, Rosena Brand; and a special brother, Marcus McFadden, Sr.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory forever are: her children, Jacquira Brand of the home, Janae (James) Cox of the home, Jamar Brand of N. Charleston, SC, and Jeremiah Conner of the home; her loving mother, Jacquline Montgomery; her fiancé, Jerode McFadden of the home; her grandchildren, Zy'Mir Cox, Christopher Hickson, Alaya McFadden, Khloe Brand, Skyler Jackson, Journey Daney, and Giovanni Rodgers; her siblings, Angela Roberson, Angel Roberson, Windell Brand, Sara (Demetrius) Lewis, and William Hickson; special aunts and uncles, Dorothy Roberts, Thomas (Nina) Nelson, and Jack Roberts; two kids she reared as her own, Jeronda McFadden and Jerell Hickson; special cousins, Latesha Roberts, Jack Roberts, Jr., and Nagoya Roberts; special brother and sisters, Laquan McFadden, Jakayla McFadden, and Precious Felder; a special mother figure, Mary Ann Davis; godchildren, Ireon Williams, Khyree Singletary, and Zion McFadden; her best friend, Porsha Green; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and special people who held a place in her heart.

The family is receiving friends and family at 6 Winchester Road, Kingstree, SC.
