Life Reflections

Vernon Pickett, was born November 30, 1964 to the late Elizabeth Betty Mae Pickett and the late John Gary Pickett, Jr. He entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Vernon was more than just a brother, he was a guiding light, a loyal friend, and an irreplaceable presence in our lives. His quick wit and infectious smile could light up any room. His kindness touched everyone he encountered. Growing up Vernon was an adventurer. He was always there, whether to offer a helping hand, share a laugh, or to provide a shoulder to lean on.

Vernon's passion for life was evident in everything he did, from his dedication to his work, to the love he showed his family and friends. Vernon had an incredible ability to bring joy to others. His resilience in the face of challenges was truly inspiring, teaching us all the value of perseverance and optimism. Though Vernon's time with us was cut short, the impact he made will last forever. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touches and the memories we hold dear. We will miss you, terrible Vernon, but we are grateful for the time we had and the lessons you taught us. Your spirit will forever guide us. We love you, my brother.

Vernon attended school at P.S. 304 in Brooklyn, then he attended St. John the Baptist school, then he later attended Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn. Once he graduated, he attended Coast Color Guard Cadets NYC, as well as Long Island University. He worked for Khan Pearson & Fox for many years until he was not able to work anymore. Vernon then moved to South Carolina to start a new life.

Vernon leaves behind to cherish his loving memories: his sons, Vernon Pickett Jr. of Brooklyn, NY and Elijah Cornish Pickett of Brooklyn, NY; one daughter, Mai-Ling Pickett of Brooklyn, NY; his fiancée, Michelle Doss of Manning, SC; four brothers, Lionel Burden of Brooklyn, NY, Kenneth Pickett of SC, Voltaire Pickett of Savannah, GA and Dementrius (Mickey) Burden of PA; two aunts, Elaine Burden Walls of Brooklyn, NY and Rose D.
