Obituary

With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Susie Alston, 65, of McClelanville, SC, who passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025.

Reflections

Susie Mae Alston, daughter of the late Hugh Lee Deas and Mamie Deas, was born on May 6, 1960 in the Sampit Community of Georgetown, South Carolina. Her husband, Isaiah Alston, Jr.; grandson, Messiah Alston and two sisters, Sarah Deas and Vivian Brunson and one brother-in-law, Arthur Lee Alston preceded her in death.

Susie, better known as "Sue", was an amazing mother, wife, friend, etc. She was the glue that kept the family together. Sue loved watching her grandkids play in the front yard, planting flowers, cooking (the best collard greens) and keeping a tidy house. She always offered a meal to anyone who came to her house.

Sue attended Georgetown County Schools. She was employed at Parson's Nursery for a while. She then took her cleaning skills to Myrtle Beach, SC to do hotel housekeeping. Years later is when Sue found her true passion, which was taking care of kids. She became a Nanny in McClellanville, SC. Sue has loved on so many families in that area, ages ranging from six weeks to thirteen years old. Those kids became part of her family. Back then, if you walked in her house, you would see pictures of the kids she cared for on the refrigerator. She ultimately retired from being a Nanny due to her husband wanting her to take time for herself.

Sue departed this life on the early morning of Monday, November 10, 2025 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Susie leaves to cherish fond memories of her: six daughters, Samantha Thomas (Travis) of Georgetown, SC, Ketenia Baker (Tuck) of McClellanville, SC, Patricia Alston of Andrews, SC, Mammie Gathers (Alphonza) of Barnwell, SC, Caroline Alston (Carlos) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Denise Alston of Georgetown, SC; one son, Isaiah Alston, III (Sha-Asia) of Germantown, SC; sisters, Betty Deas of Georgetown and Jeanette Beach (Gene) both of Georgetown, SC, Linda Vanderhorst of Germantown, SC and Mary Lewis of Conway, SC; brothers, Jimmy Deas, Oliver  Deas (Brenda) and Ernest Deas all of Georgetown, SC; sisters-in-law, Louella Grant (John) of Georgetown, SC, Betty Howard (Leroy) of Georgia, Cynthia Weathers of New York and Leola Alston of Columbia, SC; brothers-in-law, Leroy Alston of Indiana, Herman Alston of Ohio, Earl Alston, Louis Alston (Aleisha) and Ronald Weathers (Carolyn) all of Germantown, SC; brothers-in-law, twenty-three grandkids; three great grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
