Life's Reflections
Stevie M. Wilson
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven."
(Ecclesiastes 3:1, NRSV)
Mr. Stevie Murdolph Wilson, son of Mrs. Hester Nesmith Wilson and the late Reverend Mose Jefferson Wilson, was born on Wednesday, February 16, 1966, in Newark, New Jersey. In 1971, the Wilson family returned to their beloved Williamsburg County, South Carolina, where the embrace of family, faith, and community shaped Stevie's life.
Though born with a significant disability, Stevie's life was a radiant testimony of God's grace, strength, and love. His courage and resilience reminded us that life is a divine gift and that every person bears God's image. Stevie's life was a living sermon of strength and faith, urging us to see the sacred worth in every person and to treat all God's children with dignity, respect, and compassion. His smile and quiet strength inspired his family and community to live with deeper faith and greater kindness. His joy in the midst of struggle and peace in adversity reflected the beauty of a spirit deeply rooted in God. To know Stevie was to witness unconditional love and the sacred worth of every life—proof that he was, indeed, fearfully and wonderfully made.
Stevie leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Hester Nesmith Wilson; his siblings, Jefferson Wilson of Orlando, Florida; Mosel Wilson of Hemingway, South Carolina; Melinda Wilson-Hughley of Conway, South Carolina; and the Reverend Fedrick A. (Tenessa) Wilson of Lexington, South Carolina. He is also remembered with love by his nieces and nephews, Shinequa Wilson of Charlotte, North Carolina; Jeffrey Wilson of Fort Myers, Florida; and Taylor, Timothy, and Trenton Wilson of Lexington, South Carolina; one great-nephew, Carson Teal of Charlotte, North Carolina; three uncles, Thomas "Brother" (Martha) Wilson and Freddie "Burley" Wilson, both of Nesmith, South Carolina, and Norman Nesmith of Washington, DC; six aunts, Willie Mae McCutchen, Mary Lee Thompson, and Ella "Tee" Wilson, all of Nesmith, SC; Rosa Lee Pressley, Jannie Nesmith, and Flora Nesmith, all of Bronx, New York; and a host of other relatives and loved ones.
Stevie's earthly journey has ended, but his spirit endures. He has fought a good fight, he has finished his course, he has kept the faith. May we continue to celebrate Stevie's life by living with love, by standing with those who face challenges, and by remembering that every person—no matter their circumstance—is a reflection of God's eternal glory.
The family is receiving friends and family at his late residence, 1117 Harvest Road, Nesmith, SC.
