Obituary

Shirley McFadden, daughter of the late John Jackson and Ethel Lee Peterson Jackson, was born February 16, 1960 in Florence County, South Carolina.

Shirley McFadden entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at her residence in Lake City, South Carolina.

Shirley was educated in the public schools in Olanta, SC. She had a heart for people and she loved to cook. Her kitchen was more than a place to prepare meals, it was a space filled with laughter, storytelling and love. Family and friends will forever remember the comforting aromas and the way every meal felt like a special occasion. Cooking was her language of love, and through it she nourished not only our bodies but also out hearts.

Later in life, Shirley entered into Holy Matrimony to the late Eugene McFadden, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by: sister, Catherine Jackson; son, Robert Jackson; son-in-law, Quincy Keels; ten uncles and seven aunts.

Shirley leaves two to cherish her memories: a daughter, Barbara Jackson of Lake City, SC; daughter-in-law, Meronica Jackson of Lake City, SC; seven grandchildren, Quincy Singletary of Coward, SC, Ashley McFadden of Columbia, SC, Tynekqua Jackson of Florence, SC, Takyra Jackson, Ty'Asia Jackson, Tobias Hudson and Harmony Jackson all of Lake City, SC; four brothers, John Jackson, Jr. and Sammy Jackson both of Lake City, SC, Fulton Jackson of Florence, SC and Tyrone Jackson of Darlington, SC; three sisters, Venis McFadden of Lake City, SC, Diane (David) McFadden of Kingstree, SC and Yvonne (Bobby) Peterson of Florence, SC; five brothers-in-law, John (Rose) McFadden, Willie James McFadden, Last Peterson, Billy (Alice) Peterson and Randy Peterson; three sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Epps, Ricki McFadden and Sylvia (Delow) McFadden; a goddaughter, Audrey Brand; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
