Life Reflections
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7–8 (KJV)
Pastor Dr. Sarah Capers Manning, affectionately known as "Mema," was a woman of deep faith, strength, and unwavering love. She lived her life in service to God and to others, creating family wherever she went and leaving a lasting impact on every life she touched.
She was born in South Carolina on August 14, 1952 to the late Butler David Capers and Lillian Frazier Capers. She answered the Master's call on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
She was the founder of Living Word Outreach Ministries, where she ministered with truth, compassion, and boldness. Through her calling, she mentored countless individuals and gave them a real family, healing, and restoration, looks and feels like through sharing her home with love and faith in God.
Pastor Dr. Manning also established S & S Senior Living, which was more than a business; it was a place of rest, safety, and healing. Everyone who entered was treated as family and encouraged to heal, grow, and feel valued.
She was known for her healing hands, comforting presence, and her ability to see people not for where they were, but for who God created them to be. In 2014, she began Real Talk, a platform rooted in honesty and truth, teaching others how to break generational curses through love, family, faith, and transparency.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sylvester Manning, Pastor Dr. Sarah Manning was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Manning; her siblings: Roosevelt Capers, Mae Pearl Johnson, Frank Capers, Bennie Capers, Louvenia Capers, and Deloris Magette.
She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Sharon Manning; a loving grandmother to her two granddaughters, Brittany Covington and Brianna Dower; a cherished great-grandmother to her great-granddaughter, Gabrianna "Sky" Covington.
She is also survived by her loving siblings, Donnie Mae Capers, Carrie Mae Capers of Paterson, NJ, Ellen Brockington of Charlotte, NC, David Capers and Cynthia Capers of Lynchburg, SC, John Capers of Olanta, SC, Nancy Graham of Olanta, SC, and Randolph Magette of Bennettsville, SC.
Though she has laid down her earthly mantle, the legacy of Pastor Dr. Sarah Manning will continue to live on through every life she touched, healed, and loved.
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC - 843-354-2292.
