Celebrating

THE LIFE AND LEGACY

Sandra Scott Davis was born on April 2, 1963, in Kingstree, South Carolina to the late Freddie P. Scott and Lerline McCullough Scott.

As it is written in Matthew 11:28, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest," so on Monday, March 23, 2026, Sandra Scott Davis answered that call and was welcomed home to be with the Lord, entering into eternal rest.

Sandra was a devoted member of the Original Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Kingstree, SC. She was a proud graduate of St. Mark High School, Class of 1981 and continued her education at Claflin University, where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education in May 1985. Shortly thereafter, she began her career in education at Lane Head Start, where she faithfully served for  many years.

In the spring of 1986, Sandra was initiated into the Kingstree-Lake City Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In May 1990, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Stephen Davis. Together, they made their home in Simpsonville, SC, where they built a life centered on love and family. From this union, three children were born: Corey, Stephanie, and Collin. Sandra and her family later joined Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC.

Sandra dedicated thirty-two years of service to Greenville County Schools at Grove Elementary,  where she taught kindergarten and first grade before retiring in May 2022. Throughout her career, she remained committed to nurturing young minds and was recognized as a certified reading teacher through the Clemson University Reading Recovery and Early Literacy Training Center for South Carolina (CUTC). After retiring, she continued to serve as  a Response to Intervention (RTI) teacher at Grove Elementary for two years and later worked as a substitute teacher across various schools in the district until earlier this year.

In retirement, Sandra embraced life's simple joys. She found happiness in gardening,  decorating her home, taking peaceful walks in the park, completing puzzles, and, most importantly, spending quality time with her children and loved ones.

Sandra's love for her family was unwavering and deeply felt. She had a giving heart and a gentle spirit, always ready to support, uplift, and pour into others without hesitation. She was the kind of woman you could always count on— present, dependable, and just a phone call or message away. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she gave so freely of herself that those closest to her never doubted her love or her presence. To many, she was not only a source of strength but also a safe place. Her warm smile and compassionate nature left a lasting imprint on every life she touched. Sandra truly lived a life of purpose—loving, teaching, and inspiring generations—and her legacy will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Johnny Mae Wall; her brothers, Roger Lee Scott and Freddie P. Scott, Jr.; and her nephew, Edwin Brandon Scott, Jr.

Those who will forever cherish her memory include her sons, Corey Davis and Collin Davis both of Greenville, SC; her daughter, Stephanie Davis of the home; three sisters, Daisy (Maceo) Scott, Maggie (John) Henderson and Jacqueline Scott all of Kingstree, SC; five brothers, Calvin (Ernestine) Scott, Brice (Ula) Scott, Lee Scott, Ricky (Melissa) Scott and Robert (Artonya) Scott all of Kingstree, SC; one uncle, Harry McCullough of Kingstree, SC; four aunts, Iona Cuylar of Rochester, NY, Gertrude Driffin, Maggie Pressley and Edith  McCullough all of Kingstree, SC; her aunt-in-law, Elease Rivers; her brother-in-law, Darin (Paula) Davis of Grovetown, GA; a niece who was like a daughter to her, Michelle Henderson of Simpsonville, SC; a cherished nephew, Justin Scott of Manning, SC; and a host of other beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC. 843-354-2292.
