Hemingway
With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Samuel Lee, 76, husband of Acquanette Williams-Lee, of Hemingway, SC, who passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Life Reflections
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
Samuel Lee, the son of the late Robert Lee and Susan Washington Lee, was born on April 1, 1949, in Williamsburg County, Hemingway, South Carolina. On January 6, 2026, he heard the whisper of God say, "it's time", and entered into eternal rest.
Samuel attended Chavis Elementary and High School, Hemingway, SC and graduated with the class of 1968. After graduation, his life journey led him to New York City where he resided for 27 years. While in New York, his employment was in Retail Management.
Samuel was a member of Hopewell A.M.E. Church, and upon his return to South Carolina in 1996, reaffirmed his membership under the Class Leadership of Brother Charles McCown. He served faithfully on the Usher Board, Senior, and Male Choirs.
His love and passion in Retail Management continued through employment at Maxway/Roses in Kingstree, SC. He worked unwaveringly until his retirement in 2010.
Samuel was preceded in death by: his sister, Pearlie Jordan and brother, Robert Lee, Jr.
On October 4, 1997, Samuel was joined in Holy Matrimony to Acquanette Williams at Greater St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Hemingway, SC.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Acquanette Williams-Lee of the home; son, Gerald (Lisa) Holmes of Georgetown, SC; daughter, Kimberly Lee of Raleigh, NC, two stepdaughters he loved as his own, Keisha Williams of Columbia, SC and Shainna Williams of Florence, SC; four sisters, Rosa (Emmanuel) Lee McCray of Nesmith, SC, Betty Lee Davis of Hemingway, SC, Alvodia (Rev. Robert) Morris of Orangeburg, SC and Ida (James) Johnson of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Vernard Holmes, Gerald Boyett Holmes, Sayvaughn Lee, and Madison W. Whipple; one great grandchild, Skylar Holmes; one goddaughter, Ceasia Morris; truly special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving friends and family 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. daily at 1644 Old Georgetown Road, Hemingway, SC 29554.
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC. 843-354-2292.
