Life Reflections
Sadie Bell Gagum was born on October 23, 1940, in Conway, South Carolina to Ernest Gagum, Sr. and Essie Jordan Gagum.
On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 12:20 A.M., Ms. Sadie Gagum departed her earthly life surrounded by her children and family in the comfort of her home.
At a young age, Sadie and her family moved to the Muddy Creek Community of Hemingway, SC where she attended Williamsburg County Public School System.
Sadie was a member of Cane Branch A.M.E. Church of Conway, SC.
Sadie worked as a dedicated caregiver and entrepreneur in her community. Sadie was well known for her infamous "press and curl." Modeled by those of all ages in Muddy Creek and surrounding areas, Miss Sadie was the best with her hot comb and stove!
Sadie enjoyed fishing, cooking, and helping family and friends. Sadie loved caring for and attending to the new babies of her family and the community!
Preceding Sadie in death were her loving parents, Ernest and Essie Gagum; siblings, Leo Gagum, Betty Jo Carrol, Jimmy Gagum, Stella Gagum, and Ruby Davis; children, Ola Bell Gagum, Lela Bell Gagum, Dalean Gagum, and Arthur Gagum; grandchildren, Eboni Gagum, Ashley Gagum and Damiya Gagum; great-grandchild, Diarra Ward.
She is survived by her siblings, Ernest Gagum Jr., Donzell Gagum, Virginia Wilson, Shirlinda Gagum, Joyce Verner, and Betty Ann Gagum; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.
She leaves behind to cherish lasting memories and carry her legacy: her 3 children, 2 honorary daughters and their children; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren affectionately called Sadie's Tree.
The family is receiving friends and family at 885 Pinetree Road, Hemingway, SC.
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC. 843-354-2292.
