Obituary

With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Rosa Lee Hannah, 74, widow of Richard Hannah, of Greenville, SC, formerly of Hemingway, SC, who passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

A Life Well Lived

Jesus says: " I am the resurrection and the life.

The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."

John 11:25

Rosa Lee Hannah was born August 8, 1951, in Williamsburg County, South Carolina, to the late L.B. Gilliard and Almita Gilliard McCray. Rosa was preceded in death by: her mother and father; her loving husband, Richard Hannah; her mother and father-in-law, Willie and Sadie Hannah; four brothers, Jerome Gilliard, Jimmy Lee Gilliard, Felton Gilliard, and Lawrence Gilliard; a sister Gloria Ann Kearson; four brothers-in-law, Jesse Hannah, Lawrence Hannah, David Hannah, and Gerald Patterson.

Rosa was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County and was a 1971 graduate of Hemingway High School. Rosa was a very passionate caretaker and became a Certified Nursing Assistant during her working years. She was very passionate about taking care of the sick and elderly.

Rosa was a faithful member of Hopewell A.M.E. Church in Hemingway, S.C., where Brother Frank Vereen was her class leader. Rosa was filled with the baptism of the holy ghost, and she didn't mind letting everyone know that she was working to enter the kingdom of Heaven.

Rosa was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Richard Hannah in 1981.

Rosa Lee was very loving and humble. Family meant everything to her. She was very stylish, and classy when it came to her hair, jewelry, and clothes. She wouldn't step out of the house if she wasn't dressed properly. Rosa always spoke her mind. She always said what she meant and always meant what she said. Rosa loved fish and would go the market seven days a week if she could.

Rosa leaves to cherish her memories forever: two sons, Richard Hannah, Jr. of the home and Wayne (April) Young of Kannapolis, NC; two daughters, Ashton Hannah of Georgetown, SC and Tonya (Adam) Alston, of Johnsonville, SC; eight grandchildren, Raniyah Hannah, Quinten Norman, Zykira Hannah, Ah'Mauri Lewis, Dorian Young, Ayden Legette, Ah'Maunii Lewis and Ja'siah Edwards; four brothers, Coit (Sally Mae) Gilliard of Hemingway, SC, James (Deloris) Gilliard of Bridgeport, CT, Thomas L.
