Life Reflections

A Time to be Born

Roosevelt Nesmith was born to the late Nemehiah Nesmith, Jr. and Letha McCray Nesmith, on August 13, 1960 in Andrews (Trio), South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 3, 2024.

A Time to Learn

Roosevelt was affectionately known as "Brother" to family and friends. He was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County, South Carolina. Roosevelt was employed at Sampit Lumber Company which was renamed Interfor, where he retired in February, 2023, after forty-three years. Also in his spare time, he loved detailing cars and going to the Flea Market.

A Time to Love

Roosevelt was united in Holy Matrimony to Barbara (D. Kinlaw) Nesmith. Their union of forty-one and half years was blessed with one son, Christopher Nesmith. Roosevelt was a member of Lighthouse of Jesus Christ Church, where he joined in 1999. Recently he rededicated his life back to the Lord.

Roosevelt was a very loving and affectionate person to everyone he came in contact with. He had a unique laugh about himself, which was contagious. One of his favorite sayings was, "WRONG ANSWER!" When you ask him about doing something, he may fuss, but he would be there for you! He truly loved his family and friends.

Loved ones left to cherish his memories are: his loving and devoted wife, Barbara Jean Nesmith; one son, Christopher Nesmith; three grandchildren, Sa'Rayah Frost, Khyston Frost and Kehlani Frost; mother of the grandchildren, Shantelle Frost; loving brothers, Willie Nesmith, Oliver Nesmith, James (Sylvia) Nesmith and Sonny (Solviea) Nesmith;  loving sisters, Helen Nesmith, Bridgette (Michael) Harper, Evelyn Green and Wendolyn Carter; brother-in-law, Charles Kinlaw; aunts, Pearl Black, Carrie (Cyril) Minette, Joesaphine Major, Phyllis Bradshaw; Barbara Bettis, Bernice Kinlaw, Saraphine (Mack) Bynum, Dorothy Kinlaw, Cynthia Dungee and Martha Darby; uncles, Mannie (Bessie) McCray, Herman McCray, Ulysees (Delores) McCray, Leon Nesmith, Voris Lee (Karen) Kinlaw, Elder Jerome (Linda) Kinlaw and Elder James (Gwendolyn) Kinlaw; eight adopted sisters and brothers, Leon McCullough, James McCray, Timothy (Linda) Pressley, Chris (Maebelle) McBride, Glory Ann (David) Washington, Susie Ann McCray, Ernestine McCullough, Ericka Jackson; Godparents who played a major role, Rand (Barbara) Nesmith and Paul (Della) Nesmith; godchildren, Felicia McCullough, LaRonda McCullough, Tasha Davis, Shawn McCray, Marcus (Aviance) Elmore, Ronnie Davis, Melissa Lane, Michael Harper, Jr and Martrel Harper; special friends, Charlie Davis, Isaac William and T.
