Obituary

With deepest sorrow, we at Henryhand Funeral Home, regret to announce the passing of Mr. Robert Lee Evans, 74, of Florence, SC, formerly of Salters, SC, husband of Camilla Evans, who passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

LIFE REFLECTIONS

Mr. Robert L. Evans affectionately known as "Sonny" and "Rob", was born on June 18, 1950 in Salters, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Mr. George Evans and Ms. Majordell E. Coleman. He answered the call from God and departed this life on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 in the arms of his loving wife Camilla, at his home in Florence, South Carolina.

Rob attended Williamsburg County Training High School/C.E. Murray High School in Greeleyville, South Carolina. He participated in drama club and several plays and performances, for which he gained the opportunity to travel across the state. After graduating from high school in 1967, he enrolled at Claflin College. Following a tumultuous year related to the Orangeburg Massacre, he moved to Washington, D.C., where he was employed with the United States Postal Service and successfully served until his retirement.

Family was very important to Rob. He was a kid-favorite at all family functions. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends. He had many hobbies including traveling and sightseeing. He was a wonderful teller of stories and jokes, and he was a loyal Washington Redskins/Commanders Fan. He was known for his style, and when you saw him, he was always sporting a signature hat. He loved going to the Casinos and sitting outside on the porch while people-watching. Rob was a loving man, one that even in his last breath wanted to make sure that his family would be alright. He was an amazing man that lived a full life and will be remembered forever.

Rob leaves to mourn his passing: his loving wife, Camilla, whom he met June 16, 1984 and married on October 9th. He also leaves to mourn: His loving children - two daughters, Pia (Dante) Gray and Sion Evans; one son – Joaquin (Ashley) Evans; his doting mother, Majordell Coleman; three grandchildren, Amir White, Nijah Evans, and Thyme Evans; one sister, Dr. Patricia Hall; one niece, Dr. Lisa (Tracy) Hyman; two nephews, Kevin Hall (preceded in death) and Jesse Bryant; He also leaves to mourn a host of other special family members, many of whom he considered his brothers and sisters - Debbra (Walter) Singleton, Derwin (Brenda) Cousar, Dr. Wanda (John) Richardson, Georgetta (Alfred) Bryant, Dr. Willette (Robert) Williams, Rodney (Deborah) Sharp, Betty Richardson, James Kinder, Renee Kinder, Sylvia Evans, Marier (M L) Stapleton, Kervin (Deloris) Evans, and Alberta (Frank) Banks; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and loyal lifetime friends whom include the WCT-CEM Class of 1967. The world was blessed by his presence and will miss him dearly.

The family will receive family and friends at the home of his mother at 849 Coast Line Road, Salters, SC.
