Life Reflections

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth; there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day….."

2 Timothy 4:6-8

A star which once shined brightly has become dim and its light is no longer seen on earth. It has become a part of heaven. With the dimming of this star went the life of our beloved Preston Adams on Saturday, October 5th, 2024. He answered the call when he heard the Master's voice and entered into eternal rest.

Preston Adams was born January 13, 1950, to the late Alphus Adams and Ida Epps Adams.

Preston was known affectionately as "Press" by his family and "Supafly" by his trucking friends and family. He will always be remembered in our hearts as a loving husband, father, uncle, cousin, friend, and colleague.

Preston accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He had a heart for people and cared a lot about helping others. He had the most pride in his family name and was proud to be an Adams man. He loved his family and always wanted everyone connected to him to do great and mighty things.

Preston received his formal education at Cades Elementary and High School. He worked as a truck driver from the age of sixteen until he was very mature in years. In his latter years, he worked as a self-taught diesel mechanic. He learned about truck maintenance throughout the years of repairing his own truck. He developed a deep knowledge of diesel maintenance and was called upon by many for instruction, guidance, and advice with anything pertaining to trucking and maintenance.

Preston was preceded in death by: four brothers, Herbert Adams, William Adams, Albert Adams, and Fred Adams and two sisters, Katie Bell Adams and Florine Evans.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories: a devoted wife, Diane Adams; three sons, Preston-Tyrone Carlos Adams of Columbia, SC, Lenard B. Adams of Cades, SC, and Wesley Pressley of Kingstree, SC; four daughters, Janice McFaddin of Gable, SC, Angelisa Simmons of Charleston, SC, Deona Adams of Florence, SC and Karen (Brandon) Jones of Dania Beach, FL; one special granddaughter whom he raised, Shadee (Juwan) Dubose of Florence, SC; two sisters, Celestine (Carl) Scott of St. Stephen, SC and Deborah (Kenney) Watts of Richmond, VA; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family is receiving friends and family at his late residence, 1112 Patty Road, Cades, SC 29518.

All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Lake City, SC. 843-354-2292.
