Life Reflections

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Mycheal TyRay "Big Mike" Edwards-Wallace, son of the late Ray-Mateo Edwards and Kareema Wallace-McCrea, was born November 14, 2006, in Manning, SC. He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

At an early age, he professed his faith at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, SC. He was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County and was a graduate of Kingstree High School's class of 2025.

Big Mike was widely known and admired for his strength, determination, and heart, both on and off the field. As a standout defensive lineman for the Blazers, he earned numerous accolades throughout his athletic career. He was named All-State and All-Conference, participated in the prestigious Shrine Bowl, and was honored twice as Lineman of the Week by the Sumter Touchdown Club. For two consecutive years, he was selected to the Sumter Touchdown Club All-Area Team for his outstanding performance on the defensive line.

Big Mike's athletic excellence extended beyond the football field. He was recognized as the Most Valuable Player for both football and baseball during the 2023–2024 season. His achievements were further honored when he received the 2024 Player of the Year award, known as the Johnson Award, presented by the Charlie Brown Foundation.

Beyond athletics, "Big Mike" was equally driven in the classroom. He was awarded a full academic and athletic scholarship to study cybersecurity at Newberry College, where he was set to continue his journey with promise and purpose.

Big Mike was preceded in death by his father, Ray-Mateo Edwards; his grandfathers, Deltes Cooper, Joe Scott, and Edward Wallace; and one uncle, Michael Wallace.

Loved ones who will cherish his memory forever are his loving family: his mother, Kareema (Roger) Wallace-McCrea of Kingstree, SC; two sisters, Jada Scott of Columbia, SC, and Sanaar McFarlin of Kingstree, SC; one brother, Raekwon McFarlin of Kingstree, SC; three grandmothers, Winnie Wallace, Mary-Etta Scott, and Jerlene Brown, all of Kingstree, SC—along with a host of loving aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.

Big Mike's legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the teammates he inspired, and the community that stood proudly behind him.

The family is receiving friends and family at 983 Anderson St, Kingstree, SC.
