Life Reflections

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens; A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot." Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 (NIV)

Michael Allen Middleton, affectionately known as "Big Mike", was born on June 30, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Allen and Mary Middleton.

At an early age, he moved to Russellville, South Carolina and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He attended the public schools of Berkeley County and graduated a year early with the Class of 1989 from St. Stephen High School.

Big Mike was known and loved by many for his warm spirit, his unforgettable sense of humor, and his gifts for bringing laughter wherever he went. He was especially known for his skills on the grill, a talent that brought family and friends together and created memories that will live on forever.

Michael spent many years operating Terry's Automatic Transmission, continuing the business his father started and taught him from an young age. Although he spent a few years as a merchant seaman and worked other jobs along the way. He always found his way back to the trade that had been instilled in him since childhood, rebuilding transmissions.

He was a proud member of Jefferson Grant Lodge #315.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Mikell Middleton of Bloomington, IL, Kwame Dingle of St. Stephen, SC, and Shawme Dingle of Moncks Corner, SC; a special niece whom he raised and loved as his own daughter, Kiona Middleton of Pineville, SC.

He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Shawnai and Skylar; his grandnieces and grandnephews who were raised in the home, Riona, Jaliah, Ki'Shon, and Ki'Mari.

Big Mike's memory will also be treasured by his siblings, Bruce Milligan and Terry Middleton both of St. Stephen, SC, Sharon Middleton of the Bahamas, and Angela Makin of Baltimore, MD; his girlfriend, Nikki Fulton; his godson, Donte Gourdine; his lifelong friends whom he considered brothers, Derrick Croker and Shirell Ravenell; his forever mechanic partner and cousin, Alex Starks; and a very special cousin, Shawn Dawson.

Big Mike leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends who will forever hold his love, laughter, and memory close to their hearts.

All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of St. Stephen, SC. 843-354-2292.
