Reflections

Mazie Alice Dukes Wilson was born on May 16, 1955 in Andrews, South Carolina to the late Sam and Allie Mae Dukes. She was ushered home on July 1, 2024 from MUSC-Florence in Florence, South Carolina.

Mazie was a class of 1973 graduate of St. Mark High School. She was a seamstress that worked at Oneita, Kingstree Knit, Island and a few other sewing factories.

At an early age, Mazie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. She later moved her membership to Bethlehem Holiness Church. After a while, Mazie went back to Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. There she was a member of the Gospel Choir, served on the kitchen committee and in the Women's Missionary Society. She also served her community by volunteering at the St. Mark/Bloomingvale CDC Foodbank.

Mazie was affectionately known as "Mae" and "Bone" to her family and friends and Suga Mama or D'Nana to her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included watching the stories, hours of crossword puzzles, singing, coloring and SLEEPING. Suga Mama made sure she never missed a ride with her daughters and sons-in-law.

Mazie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Joe Lester Wilson. To this union three beautiful daughters were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Allie Mae Dukes, and siblings: Herbert, Catherine, Effrin, and Novia.
