Obituary

With deepest sorrow, we at Henryhand Funeral Home, regret to announce the passing of Mary Ruth Lloyd, 75, of Pineville, SC, wife of Reverend Chucky A. Lloyd, Sr., who passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at East Cooper Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

OBITUARY

Mary Ruth Edwards Lloyd was born on October 7, 1950 to the late John and Evelyn Gadsden Edwards in Pineville, SC.  She was the youngest and only daughter of the three children born to this union. Mary's Christian life began at Redeemer RE Church in Pineville, SC where she was baptized and confirmed at an early age. Mary was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County at JK Elementary and Russellville High Schools.

Mary was united in Holy Wedlock to Chucky A. Lloyd, Sr. on June 30, 1973 and God blessed this union with three children:  Jessica, Michelle and Chucky, Jr. Mary was a dedicated housewife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She loved to cook, knit, and sew.  She was an avid reader of the Berkeley Independent and the News and Courier newspapers.  After her husband received the call to the ministry, she humbly supported the call and took up their children and went wherever he was called to serve. At his current church, she served as a choir member, an usher, a cook, a custodian and eagerly participated in whatever was asked of her. She joined the Minister's Wives and Widow's Alliance and served until her health began to fail.  Mary was a cheerful, loving, giving person, who gave words of encouragement, except when you upset her or messed with her children or grandchildren.  She loved her family and friends and was extremely supportive of them. Mary transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 11th at East Cooper Medical Center, Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Mary was preceded in death by: her loving parents, John and Evelyn Edwards; her brother, Melvin "Nod" Edwards; godmother, Evelina White; special sister, Ruthie B.
