Jr.
Aug 24, 1949 — Nov 1, 2025
Kingstree
With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Louis Ramsey, Jr., 76, of Kingstree, SC, who passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
Life Reflections
Louis Ramsey, Jr., was born August 24, 1949 in Kingstree, South Carolina to the late Louis Ramsey, Sr and Caritha Chandler-Ramsey. Louis Jr., as addressed by his parents, was the eldest of six siblings; five brothers, Robert, George, Harvey, Tony and one sister, Reatha. After awhile, the family relocated to Brooklyn, NY. Unfortunately Louis Ramsey Sr. became ill, when everyone was of such young age, which made Louis Jr. AKA "Ducka" the head of household. It was an extremely huge responsibility, but he stepped up to try to ease the burden of their mother Caritha.
It was never a dull moment in the Ramsey household, from sibling rivalry, to competitions, it was always something going on, thus why Louis Jr became so involved with extracurricular activities, which led him to Fashion High School, which he fell in love with designing, which of course he started designing his wardrobe. Along with his fashion sense, sewing clothes for his siblings and for his friends, he also found time for basketball, dance and singing. But the one thing he definitely had was the gift of gab. He always wanted to debate and challenge you on current events and happenings around the world. He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. Louis Jr started to wander and discover different parts of himself, he wound up in Boston, MA, where he worked for Coastal Corrugated Inc. and discovered his love for radio. After countless days and nights from sweeping radio stations, to doing fill-ins, he finally got his chance to use the gift of his voice, which landed a job at Star 99.1 Fox in North Carolina, and from there it was endless opportunities that lead from trips throughout the world, live concerts opening for various artist and even A TV Show. He was known as "Ramsey Louis Champagne". He had the voice and that gift of gab, which lead him back to his roots at WDKD FM Radio Station in Kingstree, SC. He then ventured to Charleston, SC, where he attended Bethel A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Rev. C. Holmes, and he started the only internet radio at the time in Charleston, SC, called KineticHiFi, with Jabari and Boyd. This was his baby where he did Voice Overs for so many and provided opportunities to all that worked with him.
As his time had started to wind down he never stop talking and giving debates and his mission to serve his God. He always said I'm his vessel and he's using me to spread the word to everyone.
Louis Jr is survived by: his daughter, Erika M. Ramsey and step-son, Jeffrey M. Freeman; his sister, Reatha Ramsey-White; brother-in-law, Larry White; his cousin, Brenda McGraw; aunt, Gloria McGraw; niece, Shamecca El; nephews (his brother's sons), Bruce and Marvin Ramsey; great nieces, Sharde and Nefertiti; great nephew, Raheim; also his great nieces and nephew, Naturi, Niya and Julius; along of a host of cousins and friends that became family.
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC. 843-354-2292.
