Life Reflections
Sister Lois C. McKnight, daughter of the late Johnson and Ellen Brown, was born May 28, 1941 in Greeleyville, South Carolina.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County School District. Early in life she accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined Joy Temple Church of Christ in Prayer in New Haven, CT. After retiring from Sargent Manufacturing Company in New Haven, she along with her loving husband moved to Manning, SC and joined New Believers Apostolic Church in Greeleyville, SC led by Pastor Rosa Rogers.
She joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. James Hugh McKnight on August 18, 1962. From their union, they were blessed with four beautiful daughters.
Sister Lois had a deep love for her church, her pastor, and cherished her role as her aide. Before her passing, she was honored with the title of Mother of the Church. She truly enjoyed attending church and seized every opportunity to praise God. She also enjoyed visiting the sick and helping those in need.
In her free time Lois loved to go fishing. She enjoyed catching the fish, but more than that she cherished the solitude and the connection to nature that fishing provided her. It was a time for reflection and away to unwind.
As the oldest of fifteen siblings, Lois is survived by: her three daughters, Victoria (Herbert) Watson of Lexington, SC, Patrina McKnight of Summerton, SC and Angela Clinton ( Eugene) of Lakeland, FL; she also leaves to cherish her memories: four sisters, Bernetha Murray, Jennie (Russell) Brown both of Salters, SC, Alice McKenzie and Mary Brown both of New Haven, CT; three brothers, George Brown, Jackie (Julia) Brown both of Salters, SC and Alphonso Brown of Kingstree, SC; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husband, James H. McKnight; granddaughter, Ebony S. McKnight; brothers, Johnny Lee Brown and Cecil Brown; sisters, Charlotte McClary, Lola Jane Brown-Jones, Ernestine Brown-Wilson, Patricia Ann Brown and Gladys Brown.
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC. 843-354-2292.
