Life Reflections
"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16
Leroy Cuyler, born September 27, 1961, in Eustis, Florida, was the youngest son of the late Willie Cuyler Jr. and Mattie Scott. He was preceded in death by: his father, Willie Cuyler Jr. and his brother, Willie James Cuyler. On Sunday July 5, 2026, Leroy's work on earth was completed.
He received his formal education at Andrews High School. He was a devoted employee of Oneita Knitting Mill for many years. Leroy had an interest in boxing at an early age in Central Florida. He enjoyed spending time with his family, loved ones, and grandkids especially. Sparking a conversation with anyone who would listen, many will remember seeing him walking through town, where his familiar presence and warm spirit touched countless lives. He was always willing to lend a helping hand without being asked. He never met a stranger. Leroy kept a cap on his head and something sweet in his pocket. Where there was music, there was Leroy dancing. He was always the life of the party and heart of the family.
Leroy's friendly and kindhearted spirit will truly be missed by many. Those left to cherish his memories forever are: his loving mother, Mattie Scott of Andrews, SC; beloved stepmother, Lorraine Culyer of Wildwood, FL; his son pride and joy, Javon Cuyler Cumbee of Andrews, SC; daughters raised as his own, Peshara Brown (Lavon Brown) of Andrews, SC and Tiffany Cumbee of Elgin, SC; former wife, Peggy Cuyler Cumbee of Andrews, SC; his beautiful sisters whom he admired dearly, Edna Scott (David Scott) of Eustis, FL, Patricia Wright (Cleveland Wright) of Andrews, SC, Wilhelmina Gallant (James Gallant) of Andrews, SC, Willie Mae Evans (Kevin Evans) of Ocala, FL, and Maria Belin of Atlanta, GA; his grand children whom he loved dearly, Kymir Cumbee of Elgin, SC, Lavon Brown Jr. of Andrews, SC, Kha'miya Scott of Elgin, SC, Ja'Niyah Cumbee of Sampit, SC, Londyn Brown of Andrews, SC, Melanie Cumbee of Sampit, SC, and Musiq-Lo'ryn Scott of Elgin SC; three uncles, Theodore Cuyler (Annie Pearl Cuyler) of Leesburg FL, Wibert Cuyler (Paulette Cuyler) of Leesburg, FL, and Fred Cuyler (Donna Cuyler) of Tavares, FL; one aunt, Hattie Edwards (Reggie Edwards) of Wildwood, FL; alongside a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
