Obituary

With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Larry Douglas Scott (Lawrence), 73, of Salters, SC, who passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

Life Reflections

Larry Douglas Scott (Lawrence) was born on June 24, 1951 in Salters, SC to John Archie Scott, Sr. and Carrie Scott. He attended C. E. Murray High School where he graduated in 1969. He continued his education at South Carolina State University where he majored in Business Administration and minored in Economics. Larry was a member of the Marching Band, Future Leaders, and the college's NAACP chapter. He graduated from SC State in 1973 and then relocated to Washington, DC to begin his career. Larry married Eddine Clemons in 1979 and from their union, they were blessed with a daughter, Karmen Scott.

Larry managed business operations at United Wholesale Distributors during the early 90's and 2000s. He then went on to manage business operations at Paper Clips store locations at various federal buildings and Cuba. He served as the store manager and the general manager until he retired and moved back to South Carolina in 2015.

Anyone who knew Larry knew he had a deep passion for fishing and being on the water. Whether casting a line with a friend or simply enjoying the tranquility of the water, he found pure joy and peace in every moment spent there.

Larry also had a love for cooking and took great pride in showcasing his culinary skills.  For him, cooking was more than just making a meal, it was an art. He believed that presentation was just as important as flavor, always ensuring that every dish looked as good as it tasted. Sharing his creations with family and friends brought him immense joy.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Scott, Sr. and Carrie Scott, his brothers, John Archie Scott, Jr., Harry Scott, Clarence Scott, and his sisters, Caretha Hammond and Naomi Oatis.

To cherish his memories, Larry leaves his daughter, Karmen Scott-Notyce, two grandchildren, Amari Scott and Cahnye Notyce; his sister, Hallie (Henry) Nesmith; sister-in-law, Barbara Scott, nieces, Loretta Ross, Audrey Jenkins, Cynthia White and Mary Nelson; nephews,, Clarence Hammond, Jr., Harry Boy Scott, Jr., Roland Wilson and Ronald Scott, lifelong friends, Judge Clifton Newman, Robert Dozier Jr., Harold Jones and Lester Whitfield; and a host of other relatives and friends who all loved him dearly.
