Celebrating
THE LIFE AND LEGACY
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying,
neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away. Revelations 21:4
Larry Carter graced the world with his presence on January 2, 1972, born to the late Charlie Mae Carter and Kendal "KC" Carter. He departed his earthly life on March 18, 2026.
He attended Georgetown County Schools and graduated from Pleasant Hill High School, where he was a standout basketball player, earning him the nickname, "King L."
Upon graduation, Larry entered the workforce and spent much of his career in manufacturing, transportation, and logistics. He was widely known for his exceptional cooking skills and his ability to make people laugh. Larry had a deep love for classic cars and cherished spending time with his family and friends. He built lasting relationships everywhere he traveled and had a way of making people feel seen and valued. Known as "Larry" in Loris, "Gary" among family, and "Tadown" in his home neighborhood … he was loved by many.
On August 2, 2014, he married the love of his life, Etta Greene Carter, surrounded by family and friends. Later, he embarked on an entrepreneurial journey alongside his wife as co-owner/operator of Carter's One Stop Shop, LLC. He was especially excited about the development of their new site and the future it represented for the family.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Etta Greene Carter; his daughters, Janiya Carter, Shamiya Carter, and Alexsia Carter all of the home; his one and only son, Larry Tranell Carter; and his precious granddaughter, Zuri Hill.
He is also survived by: his sisters, Nicole (Stafford) Cooper and Iresha Carter both of Hemingway, SC and Sheena Carter of Charlotte, NC; his brother, Kentrell (Monique) Carter. He shared a special bond with his aunt, Delcena Bell, whom he loved as a second mother.
Larry also leaves behind his father-in-law, Douglas (Diane) Greene, Sr.; his brothers-in-law, Brian Greene of Columbia, SC, Brandon Greene of Pawleys Island, SC; Gregory Greene and Douglas Greene, Jr. both of Murrells Inlet, SC; his sisters-in-law, Rhetta Greene of Murrells Inlet, SC and Marie (Ted) Livingston; along with a host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC. 843-354-2292.
