Murphy
Jul 21, 1951 — Oct 14, 2025
Philadelphia
With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Kathryn M. Murphy, 74, of Philadelphia, PA, formerly of Kingstree, SC, wife of Heller "Bubby" Murphy, who passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Obituary
Kathryn M. Graham was born to the late Roosevelt J. Graham and the late Maria Rose Graham on July 21, 1951 in Newport, Rhode Island. She departed this earthly life on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Kathryn dedicated her life to all children at L.P. Hill Elementary School from which she retired. She loved the elementary school children and they loved her. The entire school honored Kathryn with a beautiful handcrafted "Thank You" Scrap Book.
Kathryn loved music, especially from Teddy Pendergrass and Luther Vandross. She listened to the radio broadcast of local Philly DJ Michael Baisden on WDAS. Kathryn was a good neighbor and a loving, kind friend. Her best friend Joyce, who Kathryn called "sister-sister" was with her in the best of times and the worst of times.
Kathryn was united in Holy Matrimony to Heller Murphy fifty-two years ago in South Carolina. To this union was born, David Desane Murphy, the love of her life, who sadly preceded her in death. Kathryn was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph and Thomas Oliveira and Roosevelt Graham, Junior. Kathryn was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Sylvia Graham; grandmother, Mama, Missouri Holloway, who she cared for over a decade.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Heller Murphy; her brother, Michael Graham; four sisters, Jeannette Willingham, Sheila Parsons, Missouri George and Lori Graham; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Kathryn's service and dedication to those she loved can never be forgotten. Her life was a lovely as the stars and her usefulness as bright as the moon.
