Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Joseph Augusta Brockington

Sunrise: October 30, 1942 Sunset: October 1, 2026

A life well lived, a love freely given, and a legacy that will endure for generations. These words beautifully describe Joseph Augusta Brockington, who entered eternal rest on October 1, 2026. Throughout his life, Joseph exemplified the true meaning of love, strength, kindness, and devotion to family. While we mourn his passing, we celebrate the remarkable life and countless memories he leaves behind.

Joseph A. Brockington was born on October 30, 1942, in the Cedar Swamp Community of South Carolina, to the late Bazie and Willie Mae Brockington. He attended Cades Hebron High School, where he received his education.

Joseph devoted the majority of his professional career to Colonial Rubber, where he dedicated many years of service before the company closed its doors. He also worked at Williamsburg Technical College, formerly known as Manpower. Throughout his professional journey, Joseph demonstrated a strong work ethic, dedication, and a commitment to excellence. He took great pride in his work, reflecting the values and principles by which he lived.

Joseph accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Michael Missionary Baptist Church. His faith was an important part of his life, and he faithfully served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and President of the Gospel Choir. Through his leadership, service, and love of gospel music, he demonstrated his devotion to God and his church family.

Joseph was a man of principle who believed that anything worth doing was worth doing right. Anyone who knew him was likely familiar with one of his favorite sayings: "If you don't do it right, it ain't coming out right."

Those words were more than just a saying; they reflected the values by which he lived. Whether at work, at church, or at home, Joseph believed in doing his best and encouraged those around him to do the same. His words of wisdom, guidance, and unwavering standards will forever remain a part of his family's legacy.

Joseph also found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially working around his home and tending to his flowers. Whether he was fixing something around the house, working in the yard, or watering his beloved flowers, he took pride in caring for the things around him. His home and flowers were a reflection of his dedication, patience, and appreciation for the things he loved.

Just as he lovingly tended to his flowers, Joseph nurtured his family with wisdom, guidance, and love. The lessons he planted in the hearts of his children and grandchildren will continue to grow, ensuring that his legacy blossoms for generations to come.

Above all, Joseph's greatest blessings were his family and the love they shared. Together with his beloved wife, Martha Lee Brockington, he built a family rooted in love, strength, and togetherness. As a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, he leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories and lessons that will continue to guide generations to come. His presence, words of wisdom, and the love he shared will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him.

Joseph leaves to cherish his precious memories his beloved wife, Martha Lee Brockington; his six children: Kelvin Brockington (Tresha), Everette Brockington (Melissa), Michelle Russell (Tommy), Lucinda Dodson (Derwin), KeAwona Hawkins, and Demetrius Brockington; his 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; his loving sisters, Neather Mae Goodwin and Lila Jackson; two special nieces, JoAnne Thomas and Rosemary Brockington; and two cherished members of the family, Olivia and Tyrone Harmoh. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and dear friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Bazie and Willie Mae Brockington; his sisters, Marie (Lula) Tisdale and Eliza McFadden; and his brothers, Charles Brockington, Bobby Joe Brockington, and Bazie Brockington.

While his earthly journey has come to an end, Joseph's legacy will continue through the lives of those he loved. His wisdom, strength, faith, and devotion to family will forever be remembered.

And whenever his family finds themselves facing a challenge or undertaking something important, they will undoubtedly hear his familiar words:

"If you don't do it right, it ain't coming out right."

The family is receiving friends and family at his late residence, 221 Fernbrook Drive, Cades, SC.
