Life Reflections

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the

righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them

also that love his appearing.

John Rogers McFaddin, affectionately known as "Tank," was born on May 27, 1957, in the New Zion section of Clarendon County, South Carolina, to the late Henry Thomas McFadden Sr. and Vida Elizabeth Ham McFadden.

John was a man who understood the value of hard work, responsibility, perseverance, and providing for the people he loved. For more than thirty years, he faithfully served as an employee of Weaver Construction and Palmetto Construction. He took great pride in his work and approached each day with dedication, determination, and a willingness to do whatever needed to be done.

John was not a man who believed in giving up easily. He continued to work faithfully until his health would no longer allow him to do so. Even when the years became more challenging, his desire to work, provide, and remain productive remained strong. His commitment to honest labor was a reflection of his character. He understood that work was not simply a means of earning a living—it was a responsibility, a blessing, and a way to care for those entrusted to him. For John, a day's work was something to be honored. He gave his time, strength, and talents without seeking recognition. He simply believed in doing his part. Through long days, difficult tasks, and changing circumstances, he remained dependable and committed. He worked until his body could no longer keep up with the strength of his spirit.

His life beautifully reflected the words of Colossians 3:23: "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men." John did just that. He worked with his hands, served with his heart, and carried his responsibilities with quiet dignity. Perhaps now, we can see his final earthly day as the closing of a long workday. After decades of faithful labor, God called His servant home on Friday, August 7, 2026. The same God who gave him strength to rise each morning and face another day's work ultimately called him from labor to rest.

John received his formal education at Walker Gamble School in New Zion, South Carolina. He was a loving, kind, and gentle-spirited man who never complained. He was always willing to help anyone in need and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His kindness was quiet but genuine, and those who knew him understood that they could count on him. An avid fisherman, John found joy in being outdoors and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Yet above all else, family was his greatest treasure. He loved his family deeply and leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by years of employment or accomplishments, but by the lives he touched and the love he gave.

John was preceded in death by his daughter, Caroline Denise Cooper; his sisters, Beaulah Mae McFadden and Brenda McFadden Harrison; and his beloved companion of forty years, Carolyn Denise Cooper.

John leaves to cherish his loving memories: his four children, John Roger Cooper Jr., Jessica Cooper, Crystal McFadden and Allen N. McFadden, all of Turbeville, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Tyquira D. Cooper, Jaquavious Cooper, Malayshia McFadden, Kaitlyn Kennedy, and Karsyn Kennedy all of Turbeville, South Carolina; three sisters, Lydia McFadden and Carolyn McFadden both of Gable, South Carolina and Ruth Ann McFadden of New Zion, South Carolina; five brothers, Henry McFadden Jr., Robert McFadden, and Edward McFadden all of Gable, South Carolina, Terry McFadden of Sumter, South Carolina and Ronald Harrison of New Zion, South Carolina. He also leaves three special friends, George Cooper, Moses Benjamin and Billy McLeod; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.

John's legacy is one of faithfulness, hard work, humility, and love. He spent more than thirty years working with his hands, providing for his family, and doing his best to help others. Even when his health began to fail, his spirit remained willing. He worked until he simply could work no more. Now, his labor is finished. His hands that worked so hard are at rest. His burdens have been lifted. His earthly work is complete. And his eternal rest has begun. Rest well, Tank. You worked hard, you loved deeply, you served faithfully, and you gave the best of yourself for as long as you could. May you now receive the reward of a life of honest labor and faithful service.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." May your soul rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord until we meet again.
