Gamble
May 17, 1938 — Jun 9, 2024
Kingstree
With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of John L. Gamble, 86, of Kingstree, SC, a retired employee of the Town of Kingstree, widower of the late Shirley Mae Gamble, who passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at MUSC, Florence, SC.
Life Reflections
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me" John 14:6
On the evening of Sunday, June 9, 2024, at MUSC-Florence Medical Center in Florence South Carolina, very quietly and peacefully, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom, gently carried away our beloved John L. Gamble.
Mr. John L. Gamble was born on Tuesday, May 17, 1938, in Cades, South Carolina to the late Mr. Wilmont and Carrie Estell Scott Gamble. He attended St. Mary School.
At an early age, John joined St. Mary United Methodist Church where he was baptized and accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He later became a founding member of Apostolic Faith Bible Way Holiness Church, under the leadership of the Late Elder O.D. Franklin, where he served as head Deacon.
John was a dedicated and faithful worker for the Town of Kingstree. After working there for over twenty-five years, he retired in 1998.
He was united into Holy Matrimony to the late Shirley Gamble and to this union four children were born.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Wilmont Gamble and Carrie Estell Scott Gamble; four sisters, Mrs. Rose Lee Shaw, Mrs. Thelma Lee Johnson, Ms. Cefee Mae Gamble and Mrs. Easter Marine Peterson and two brothers, Lamar Gamble and Wilmont Gamble, Jr.
In his spare time he enjoyed sitting in his yard and waving at others as they passed by. He loved wrestling, going to church, praising God. Our father wasn't rich with silver and gold, but was rich with wisdom, that he imparted within us. That wisdom will last a lifetime. Some of his favorite songs were, "Better Days Are Coming, Walk With Me Lord, and Send It On Down Lord."
His memories will forever be cherished by: two loving sons, Herman T. Gamble and James Gamble, both of Kingstree, SC; two devoted daughters, Yolanda Gamble and Estelle Tisdale (Jerry) of the home; one stepson, David Gamble of Kingstree, SC; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC. 843-354-2292 .
