Jerricee "Jc"
Mcfadden
Mar 18, 1956 — Jan 24, 2025
Alhambra
With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Jerricee "JC" McFadden, 68, of Alhambra, CA, formerly of Kingstree, SC and husband of Gladys Wachira McFadden and son of Hazel McFadden, who passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025.
I shall pass through this world but once……
Jerricee "JC" McFadden, 68, was born on March 18, 1956, in Baltimore, MD to the late Jessie Flood and Hazel McFadden. He departed this life unexpectedly on January 24, 2025, at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA. JC attended schools in Kingstree, SC and Lynn, MA. He graduated from Lynn Technical Vocational Institute in 1974. He joined the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.
A good game of chess was one of his favorite pastimes. He was an avid chess player, always searching for a game no matter which state he was visiting. He was also an avid basketball fan, and the Los Angeles Lakers were his favorite team. JC had a passion for basketball and music (playing the drums) when he was younger. JC, his cousin Jerry, and two of their friends started their own band and were well known throughout the city of Lynn, MA.
JC was a kind-hearted and gentle soul who touched the lives of everyone he met. He received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior later in life and served God wholeheartedly. Most importantly, he was a God-fearing man who lived a life of faith and was very prayerful. He was a faithful member of Holy Deliverance Church in Pasadena, CA and was studying to become an ordained minister. He served his former pastor, Prophet Rogers DeCuir, as an Armor Bearer until Prophet DeCuir transitioned.
JC was a man of integrity, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family. He spent his life dedicated to being an aircraft structure mechanic, a general contractor and President of his own trucking company, always leading with humility and a generous heart.
For 34 years JC made his home in Alhambra, CA with his wife, Gladys Wachira, where they built a life together for their family that was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. His greatest joy came from being with and sharing time with his family in CA, GA, and SC. He was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and encouragement to every one of them. He taught by example, always reminding those around him to face challenges with courage, to cherish every moment, to find joy in the simple things, and to always be willing to see both sides of a situation.
He enjoyed and loved visiting Kenya every chance he got, and his plan was to make Kenya his home when he retired. JC was an extraordinary person and that wonderful big smile of his just won people over even if you were not related to him. He will be deeply, deeply missed by all who know him. JC was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
JC was preceded in death by his grandmother and godmother, Sarah Wallace Cooper; his father, Jessie Flood; a father-in-law and mother-in-law, Geoffrey and Loice Wachira; two brothers, Michael Flood and Bernard McFadden; a sister, Betty Flood, a brother-in-law, George Kihia, and a nephew, Michael Flood Jr.
JC is survived by: his wife, Gladys Wachira; his children, Elisa (Justin) Johnson of Stockbridge, GA, Edwina, and Jesse of Alhambra, CA; his mother, Hazel McFadden Mouzon of Kingstree, SC and his stepmother, Lillian Flood of Baltimore, MD; three brothers, William, Hamlet, and Nick McFadden all of Kingstree, SC; five sisters, Annie Flood of Wadesboro, NC, Sadie (Jim) McCloud of Kingstree, SC, Daytona Hill of Charlotte, NC, Amanda (Sinclair) Bishop of NJ, and Pam (Gerrard) Sims of Tampa, FL; five brothers-in-law, Chris (Lydia) Mahinda, Peter (Tabitha) Ndegwa, Alfred (Salome) Lenana, John Magu Cushny and John (Mary) Gaita; one sister-in-law, Grace Mumbi Wachira; two grandchildren, Jerricee and Beyonce; a great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Elisa; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
You shall pass through this world but once. If therefore, any kindness you can show or any good you can do, do it now…For you shall not pass this way again.
The family will receive friends and family starting, Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 411 Hodges Road, Kingstree, SC.
