Life Reflections
On Thursday, September 26, 2024, Mr. James Edward McCutchen entered into eternal rest at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. James Edward McCutchen was born in Lane, South Carolina on September 20, 1943, to the late James McCutchen and Eliza Murray McCutchen. He was co-raised by Viola Darby.
He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County, South Carolina.
James worked for the Longland Plantation for over thirty years until retiring at the age of seventy.
At an early age "Boot" as he was affectionately called and known, joined St. James A. M. E. Church, Lane, South Carolina, where he served faithfully as a member of the Senior Usher Board and the Sons of Allen Unit. He also served as the Sexton and a member of the Trustee Board during his period of life.
Boot enjoyed having Ben, the parrot as his pet whom he loved. He also loved various caps, cowboy hats and boots. He enjoyed watching the Rodeo on TV.
James was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Jessie Mae Wallace McCutchen on April 15, 1967. This union was blessed with two sons, Edward L. McCutchen and a daughter, Pamela V. Dozier, whom both preceded him in death. James also has a twin son and daughter from a previous relationship.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Minister Linza McCutchen of Charleston, SC and Leo Love of Philadelphia, PA; a daughter, Cleo (Michael) Brower of Philadelphia, PA; a daughter-in-law, Aretha McCutchen of Georgetown, SC; his siblings, Multry (Jeanette) McCutchen of Brockton, MA, Christine (Derry) Major and Ruth McCutchen both of Fort Myers, FL, Rosetta (Raymond) Massey of Sequin, TX and Sylvia (Dale) Callahan of Nashville, NC; in-laws, Dora A. (Elisha) Henry, Jesse J. Wallace, Jr., Robert Wallace, Josephine Wallace, Minister Emmie V. Robinson and Arthur L. Wallace all of Charleston, SC, Brenda Wallace of Jacksonville, FL, Raymond Wallace of Orangeburg, SC and Reverend Joann Howard of Kingstree, SC; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A very special thank you to my aunts, Rosetta and Sylvia for taking care of daddy and traveling back and forth to the hospitals the few weeks he was in North Carolina. I love you!
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC. 843-354-2292.
