Celebrating the Life & Legacy

Ida Mae Wilson was born on October 25, 1949, in Sumter County, South Carolina, tot he late Belton and Pearl McKnight Lewis. On September 17, 2026, Ida completed her earthly journey leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, service and love.

Ida began her education in South Carolina before relocating to Washington, D.C., where she finished her education. In 1965, she met the love of her live, James L. Wilson. Their love blossomed, and on September 21, 1967, they were united in marriage. From their loving union came four beautiful daughters, whom they raised with love, strong family values, and a firm foundation of faith.

Through her professional career, Ida was a hardworking and dedicated woman. She worked as a research specialist in the banking industry and later served as a school bus investigator with D.C. Public Schools. No matter where she worked, Ida carried with her the same spirit of dedication, compassion and service that defined her life.

Above all, Ida was a woman of God. She was a devoted evangelist, intercessor, and prayer warrior who believed deeply in the power of prayer. She was a part of several prayer grounds throughout her life, including the Workers of God, faithfully interceding on behalf of her family, friends, community and anyone in need of prayer. Her faith was not something she simply spoke about, it was something she lived each and every day.

One of Ida's greatest ministries was her family. She made it a priority to raise her four daughters and grandchildren in the church, instilling in them the importance of knowing God, trusting Him, praying, loving one another, and keeping faith at the center of their lives. She prayed over her family faithfully, covering generations with her prayers. The spiritual foundation she established will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, for generations to come.

Ida was deeply family-oriented and possessed a true servant's heart.  She was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially to senior citizens and those who needed extra support. Whether she was offering words of encouragement, praying with someone, providing a ride to a doctor's appointment, or taking someone to the grocery store, Ida found joy in being there for others.

She continued driving and assisting others until she lost her eyesight. Although she could no longer serve people in the same physical ways, losing her sight never diminished her faith or her desire to help others. She continued her ministry through prayer, encouragement, wisdom, and an unwavering trust in God. She remained a source of spiritual strength for those around her and continued to remind her family of the importance of prayer.

Ida Mae Wilson lived a life that demonstrated the true meaning of love, faith and devotion. She prayer for her family and trusted God through every season of her life. Her strength was found in her faith, and among her greatest joys were the family she loved so dearly.

Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the seeds Ida planted will continue to grow. Her prayers will continue to cover generations, her lessons will continue to guide her family, and the love she gave so freely will remain forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
