Life Reflections

And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." — Revelation 14:13

Gregory Leverne McKnight Jr., affectionately known as Greg Jr., was born on June 18, 1993, in Florence, South Carolina, to Gregory L. McKnight Sr. and Alisa Venee Morris. On August 23, 2024, Gregory peacefully departed from his earthly life, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and faith.

Gregory was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Norman Singletary, and his uncle, Ricky Singletary. He was educated in Florence County School District 3 and graduated from Lake City High School in 2012. Following his graduation, Greg Jr. attended Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina.

A devoted member of Open-Heart Ministries in Kingstree, SC, Greg Jr. found spiritual guidance under Bishop Robert Hanna's leadership. His faith was a part of his life and the foundation upon which he built his relationships.

Greg Jr. loved his family deeply and cherished every moment with them. He adored his wife, Diamond, whom he first met with a prophetic promise that she would one day be his wife. He fulfilled that vow, and the two were married on July 13, 2024. Their love story was a testament to Gregory's commitment and the deep affection they shared.

His family fondly remembers Greg Jr. as a kindhearted and gentle person with a loving heart who always wanted to share that love with others. He was a man who avoided conflict and strived to keep peace within the family. His heart was full of love, and he lived out the words of John 13:34, "A new command I give you: Love one  another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." Greg Jr's love extended to all, and he was not afraid to express it, making him a person of compassion and kindness in the lives of those who knew him.

Gregory's siblings recalls his joyful spirit, always ready with a joke to make others laugh. Though they experienced typical sibling rivalries growing up, their bond grew stronger, and they became best friends. His parents treasured the consistency with which Greg Jr.   stayed in touch, calling her every day, sometimes multiple times, to check in and express his love. Their bond was undeniably a very special one.

1 John 4:7-8: "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love."

Greg Jr.'s  love for his family, friends, and faith was who he was. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, the love of his life, Diamond S. McKnight, and his three beloved children, Kaitlyn McKnight of Hemingway, Christian McKnight, and Malaysia Brunson, all of the home. He is also survived by his loving parents, Alisa (Tyrone) Morris of Kingstree, SC, and Gregory L. Sr. (Latoya) McKnight of Coward, SC; two sisters, Yvonne McKnight of Lake City, SC, and Tiara Muldrow of Coward, SC; and four brothers, DeVante McKnight of Florence, SC, Emanuel McKnight, Elijah McKnight, and Tyrese McKnight, all of Coward, SC.

Gregory will also be remembered by his maternal grandmother, Katherine Singletary of Lake City, SC, and his paternal grandparents, Jessie and Linda Gail McKnight of Springfield, MA. His mother-in-law, Francis Shannon, of Columbia SC; two nieces and two nephews to cherish his memory: JaBara McKnight, JaCeon McKnight, Amara Brown, and Keilani Adams.

He is further survived by his paternal aunt, Karen (Eric) Hightower of Connecticut; paternal uncle, Jessie (Carmen) McKnight of Springfield, MA; two maternal aunts, Brittney Muldrow and Denise Wells of Lake City, SC; and three maternal uncles, Norman (Zelda) Singletary of Sumter, SC, O'brian Singletary, and Derrick Singletary of Lake City, SC.

In addition to his immediate family, Greg Jr.'s memory will be treasured by his sister-in-law, Bridget (Jermaine) Simmons and his brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Melissa) Brunson and Emanuel Brunson. He also leaves behind his godmother, Gwen Moody of Kingstree, SC; his godson, Nolan Myers; his god-sister, Kaneisha Cunningham; his best friend, Xzavier Myers; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Greg Jr.'s life was a testament to love, faith, and family. He demonstrated that in his life. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those blessed to know him. Rest in eternal peace.
