Life Reflections

Please don't weep for me, rather smile for me because I am free….

Surrounded by family, Georgia Ella Crosland-Daniels peacefully transitioned from this life to be in the presence of God, on Saturday, November 24, 2024. She was born June 3, 1944 to the late Edward Ernest Crosland Sr. and Elree Whack in Greeleyville, South Carolina, she was the second of four children. She attended the Williamsburg County Training School in Greeleyville, South Carolina and graduated high school in New Jersey after the death of her father.  At an early age, Georgia accepted Christ in her home church, Trinity Baptist Church.

While in New Jersey, she saw a young man while on the transit bus and asked her older brother about him. He did not know who he was but promised that he would find out who he was if he lived in the area. As God ordained, her brother and the young man met on their own and began a friendship which ended in the young man being invited to their home. As the two began walking toward the apartment, the young man saw a pair of eyes looking at him. He asked, "Who is that little girl looking at me?" The brother replied that is my sister and she is not a kid, she is old." The young man, Melvin Daniels, became interested and soon began calling on Georgia. It was not long until he was asking for her hand in marriage, and it was approved and blessed by her mother. They were married on March 19 and enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. Where you saw one, you saw the other. No one had to ask if they were in love. All one needed to do was look. To this loving union, two children were born: a daughter and a son.

She traveled to several different places as an Army wife. While stationed in Kentucky, she and the family attended Beth Haven Baptist Church, where her husband was given a Bus Ministry. Every Saturday morning, Pah and Mah Daniels and children would load up the car to go out witnessing to others.  Upon returning home to South Carolina, Melvin was ordained and she became a minister's wife and a teacher assistant in the Williamsburg County School district where she touched many lives both old and young.

She loved family and wanted family all around her. Everyone whom she touched, called her "Mah" or "Mah Daniels" and the names stuck. Mah Daniels had an ever-present smile that was infectious and radiant. It lit up every place she went.

In 2020, Mah Daniels was baptized and became a member of the Gathering of Christ Church. She looked forward to the Sabbath when she could be around her church family. She exemplified the love of Christ and was ready to give of anything and all she had. Mah Daniels did not have to say anything to anyone, but her quiet nature and dignity spoke for her. Her favorite saying was, "If you cannot go to heaven with me, I'm not going to hell with you." It was evident in her way and step.

In addition to her parents: Edward Ernest Crosland Sr., and Elree Whack Crosland, she was preceded in death by her son, Antonio Armondo Daniels, brothers: James Womble Sr., Edward "Sonny" Crosland, Jr.; sisters, Mary Womble, and Leona Crosland Whitaker.

Those left to cherish her precious memory are: her husband, Elder Melvin Daniels; daughter, Angelina Shaw (Joseph Sr.); brother, Peter Crosland; grandchildren, Adriel Shaw (Candice) of Moncks Corner, SC, Joseph Shaw Jr. (Gertrude) of the home, Andrell Shaw (Shannon) of Charlotte, NC, Kevin Franklin (Tazmarrie) of Marion, SC, Ahmad Lewis (Paticia) of Moncks Corner, SC and Orlando Lewis Sr. (Ambreasha) of Minnesota; nephews, James Womble Jr. and Ben Whitaker (Shonda) of Spartanburg, SC; nieces, Toya Womble and Jill Womble-Whitfield (Thomas) of Philadelphia, PA, Susan Williams (Richard) of Lancaster, SC, Shana Whitaker of Kingstree, SC, Selena Schwing of Phoenix, AZ, Robinette Whitaker of Greeleyville, SC, and Casaundra Crosland of Virginia; fourteen greatgrandchildren; in-laws, Raymond Daniels (Ellerweis), Deborah Vaughn (Butch), Sharon Jennings (Lauren), Stephanie Williams and Leroy Daniels; two very dear cousins, James Bagnal Jr., and Nell B. Price, who were like siblings; along with her church family, many other family and friends.

The family is receiving friends and family at 51 Melgeo Lane, Greeleyville, SC.
