With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of George McCrea, Jr., 78 of Kingstree, SC, husband of Curlie McCrea, who passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Life Reflections
God in His infinite wisdom is keenly aware when one of His children has grown tired of his tedious earthly journey. For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God. That time came for our dear one, Mr. George McCrea, Jr. He was summoned to the Throne of Grace on Wednesday afternoon, April 8, 2026, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.
Mr. McCrea, the son of the late Mrs. Harriet "Hattie" and George McCrea, Sr., was born January 27, 1948, in Kingstree, South Carolina. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. At an early age, he became a member of Trinity Holiness Church. George was employed by Moses Collis and Witherspoon Heating and Cooling for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by: his son, Brian McCrea; a sister, Viollerie Rhee "Bob" Brockington; a brother, Louis McCrea; and a stepson, Ernest Lee McKenzie.
Survivors are: his wife, Curlie McCrea; five children, Patricia McCrea, Felicia Washington, George Edward McCrea, Jr., Vajannise Ingram (David Bernard) and Nija Nesmith (Jamarr Slade); three stepdaughters, Debra Witherspoon (Lawrence), Myshall McKenzie and Debra Richey; two friends like brothers, Ernest Miller, Jr. and Clark Lorenzo Miller; nine grandchildren, Kiaria McCrea, Keeanna McCrea, Lilliana Washington, Phenovia Hopkins, Stachia Fordham, Nakeem Ingram, Dylan Johnson, Mattie Nesmith and Makenzie Slade; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
The family will be receiving friends at 609 Second Avenue, Kingstree, SC.
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC. 843-354-2292.
