Fred
Mccrea
Jan 22, 1953 — May 12, 2026
Kingstree
With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Fred McCrea, 73, husband of Elaine McCrea, of Kingstree, SC, who passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
Life Reflections
With loving hearts, we celebrate the life and legacy of Fred "Amos" McCrea, who was born to his mother, Allie Mae Jackson, and lovingly raised in Nesmith, South Carolina by his parents through Christ, the late George and Nelious McCrea.
Originally from Nesmith, SC, Fred moved to Durham, NC, before eventually settling in Kingstree, SC, where he spent the remainder of his years surrounded by family, friends, and the country life he loved dearly.
He was a proud graduate of Battery Park High School. Fred went on to serve his country honorably as a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a skilled rod buster and proud owner of Slim and Sons Rebar Construction. Some of his happiest moments were spent gardening, fishing, and enjoying the charm of classic cars and trucks. He had a strong love for his community and those around him, always ready to lend a helping hand and give back when needed.
Fred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was blessed to share 47 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife, Elaine McCrea, who remains to honor and cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his son, Antoine McCrea of Kingstree, SC.
Fred leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving sons, Frederick "Shaun" McCrea (Crystal) of Columbia, SC, and Brian McCrea of Laurens, SC; 12 beloved grandchildren; 2 treasured great-grandchildren; along with a host of relatives, friends, and loved ones.
He was also preceded in death by his maternal siblings, Ricky Morris and Ruby Morris. He is survived by his maternal siblings, Amanda Dixon (Danny) and Arnold Williams, along with his siblings through Christ of the McCrea family, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Fred's love, wisdom, and strength will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest."
