Raised by his late paternal aunt and uncle London and Lula Paul, he attended Williamsburg County Schools and graduated from C.E. Murray High School, Class of 1974.
During his youthful days "Buddy" as he was known, loved to play sports, however his passion and most loved sport was playing baseball. He won many awards and gained recognition for his sportsmanship and how talented he was. There wasn't a baseball field that "Buddy" didn't mind showing up to let it be known why he was the best. "Buddy" worked for Colonial Rubber Plant.
In 1976, "Buddy" married Thomasena Mitchum, and to this union one son was born, Ervine Carolina, Jr.
Later, "Buddy" would move to Charleston, SC and worked as a tree trimmer for Stump Stopper, where he worked for 25 years before retiring and moving back to be closer to his family.
Ervin "Buddy" leaves to cherish his memories: his two sons, Ervine (Alfreda) Carolina of Salters, SC and Caesor Carolina of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Tanika, Jasmine, Joshua and Ervin "EJ" Carolina all of Salters, SC; one sister, Diane Carolina of North Carolina; two brothers, Michael Carolina of Greensboro, NC and Bishop Kenneth Carolina of Florence, SC; one cousin who was like a sister to him, Vernell Williams of Kingstree, SC; special friends, Ben Smith, Alex (Lakisha) Pressley and Greg Bradley.
