Obituary

With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Elease Washington Ladson, 99, of McClellanville, SC, widow of the late Henry Ladson, who passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

Life Reflections

Elease Washington Ladson, daughter of the late George and Anna Rouse Washington, was born November 29, 1925 in Tibwin, South Carolina. "Leez", as she was affectionately known, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at East Cooper Medical Center, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

On October 19, 1942, Leez was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Henry Ladson at Mother Emmanuel A.M.E. Church, Charleston, South Carolina. To this union they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Margie Ladson. Leez was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She was loved by everyone in the community.

At an early age, she received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined Bethel A.M.E. Church of McClellanville, South Carolina. She was an active member of the Church and was very dedicated to her service. As a member, she participated in the McClellanville Prayer Band, Trustee Board, Steward Board, Usher Board No. 1, Class Leader, The Gospel Jubilee, Order of Tents, Order of the Eastern Star, Women's Missionary Society, South Santee Senior Citizens and the Berkeley Electric Wire.

Leez was employed at the Sea Horn Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina until 1979, and was later employed by the South Carolina Crab and Seafood Packaging Company of McClellanville, South Carolina. Leez remained faithful and committed to her family, church and community until her health declined.

She was preceded to the grave by her sisters and brother, Thelma W. Harney, Ernestine Mitchell, and Jerry Washington.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Margie Singleton (Willie); grandchildren, Tonya Singleton whom she raised in the home, Willie Singleton, II (Tira) all of McClellanville, SC and LaTonya Reid (Keith) of Woodstock, GA; great grandchildren, Ikell Singleton (Jada) whom she raised in the home, Dejanai (Cesare), Shynniah, Amari and Jabari Singleton all of McClellanville, SC; great-great grandchild, Kehlani Singleton of Durham, NC; one godchild, Juanita Weston; along with a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her "special angels" Irene Pinckney, Catherine Holland, Elizabeth Young, Gertrude Borden, Willie Singleton, Joel and Donna Trimier.

The family is receiving friends and family at her late residence, 1804 River Rd., McClellanville, SC.

All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Andrews, SC. 843-354-2292.
