Elder Sam
Mose Jr.
Nov 9, 1937 — Feb 23, 2025
Summerton
With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Elder Sam Mose Jr., 87, of Summerton, SC, who passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Pastor Sam Edward Mose Jr.
On Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, the Lord welcomed home one of His faithful and victorious shepherds, Pastor Sam Edward Mose Jr., born on November 9th, 1937 in Bonneau, SC. He was the eldest son to the late Sam Mose Sr and Susan Mose. He was preceded in death by his siblings Richard, John, and William (Emma).
He graduated from Russellville High School, where he was known for his leadership and compassion. Following high school, Sam attended seminary school at First Born Seminary in Waycross, GA where he pursued his calling to the ministry and earned his master's degree in theology. His passion for serving God led him to begin pastoring in 2000. His first congregation was small, but his heartfelt commitment to preaching and caring for others quickly earned him respect and admiration.
In 2005, Sam married his beloved wife, Betty, and together they built a life of love, faith, and service. In 2013, Sam became the Diocese Elder of the South Carolina District of the First Born of the Living God. This prestigious role allowed him to have a broader influence, guiding other pastors and congregations while continuing his work of strengthening the faith of all those in his care. His love for his family was matched by his commitment to his community and church.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 20 years Betty Mose, three children — Matilda Mose, Sherry (Scottie) Goodman, Tim (Morgan) Mose, one sister — Louisa (James) Dingle, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and service. His work in ministry, his leadership as a Diocese Elder, and his dedication to his family and community will be remembered for generations to come.
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Lake City, SC. 843-354-2292.
