Obituary

With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Edith L. Snyder, age 82, wife of Walter Snyder, of Kingstree, SC, who passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

Life Reflections

Edith Louise Snyder was born December 16, 1942, in Alexandria, Virginia, born to the late George Robinson Sr. and the late Beatrice Tyree Robinson. She had seven siblings: George (Sonny) Robinson Jr., Bobbie Richardson, Ethel Robinson, Betty (Richard) Hawkins, David (Lucile) Robinson, Carolyn Blacknell and Beatrice "Beaky" (Kenneth) Conyers.

On October 23, 1963, she married Walter Snyder Sr. This union was blessed with five sons: Timothy (Renee) Snyder, Walter Tony Snyder Jr., Christopher Todd Snyder, Trenton (Morkina) Snyder, and Monroe Terry Snyder.

Throughout Edith's young adult life, she worked at Mackey Food Services. She was "Momma Snyder" to every young child in our community. She had bowls of different candies for the little knocks on the door; a hug and a kiss for their choice of candy. She also was employed with the United States Postal Service and managed several Washington Post paper routes (with her 5 boys, "she drove, they delivered"). She would later retire from the United States Postal Service and become a homemaker.

Edith became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in the early 80's and joined the local Elks Lodge.

Edith was active in the Del Ray community in the Alexandria area and was deeply engaged in her sons' sports and business endeavors. Edith and Walter, Sr. moved from Alexandria, Virginia to Kingstree, South Carolina in 2002. Edith remained in Kingstree and made friends with those who lived around her. She was loved and will be sorely missed by every one who knew her.

Edith passed peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Walter Tony Snyder, Jr.., and her sisters, Carolyn Blackwell and Bobbie Robinson.

Edith is survived by: her husband, Walter Sr. of the home; her sons, Timothy, Christopher, Trenton, Monroe; her grandchildren; countless great-grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives, family and friends.
