Obituary

With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Easter White, 97, formerly of Bloomingvale, SC, widow of Samel White Sr., who passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

Easter Mae Brown White was born on an Easter Sunday evening to the late Willie and Rosa Bellmy Brown on April 8. 1928 in Mullins, South Carolina. Born on Easter Sunday, her grandmother thought that should be her name. She grew up in Warsaw, SC, where her father relocated the family for work.

At the age of 16, Easter met and married her best friend, the late Samuel L. White, Sr. To this union 6 children were born, Samuel Jr., Harry J., Charles E., Dorothy, Jerome and Benjamin.

At age 17, Easter accepted Christ as her personal Savior. Under the leadership of Pastor Alice Wallace Jackson, Easter was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost and never looked back. Through her life she served under leaderships such as Bishop Luther Moore Pastor Teresa Collins of St. Matthew Holiness Church, Andrews, South Carolina.

Easter's employment involved raising her children and working side by side with her husband on the farm. Farming was a way of life. They grew their own crops for income, raised farm animals and grew their own fruits and vegetables for food. Monday through Friday was Easter's farm work but on Saturdays she became the community hairdresser/beautician.

In 1985 along with her husband, Easter relocated to Rochester, NY for better healthcare for her husband. She became a member of The Bibleway Healing Assembly under the leadership of Dr. Eulah M. Nelson. She served under Bishop Samuel White of Faith Chapel and was present with Bishop Lewis and Pastor Dorothy Henry of Judah Ministries, all of Rochester, New York.

Mother White served God faithfully. She was a prayer warrior, an intercessor indeed. She worked non-stop in each ministry. She did whatever her hands found to do as she was taught. She served as missionary, Sunday school teacher, church secretary, devotional and testimonial leader, pastors' aide church cook, and deaconess. She was also on the cleaning committee and sung on the church choir.

Mother White's home was where the Pastor and family ate on Sundays and prayer meetings were held in her home on Wednesdays. She fed everyone who came her way. She took a little and made a lot.

Mother White was that virtuous woman in Proverbs 31: She loved God and her husband and she respected him as head of the house. She raised her children to love God and to respect others. She showed love and kindness to all, and she minded her own business. Her prayer life never ceased. Her life was our example to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grands. She changed lives by the way she lived, through love and prayers.

There was no guile found in her mouth. She was not a cursing Christian. Mother Easter witness to her entire neighborhood about Jesus Christ and she did not stop until every mother in her community to receive the baptism in Jesus' name and got filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost, no matter what church they belonged to or their denomination. Yes, Easter was a true Woman of God. He testimony was always "God will keep you, if you want to be kept."  She had hard testing times, but she was relentless. She would not give up on God. She would say "You might have to let go of somethings, but don't let go of Jesus."

Mother White was a Jewel to her family and other around her. On September 4, 2025, Easter Mae White entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by: her loving husband, Samuel L. White, Sr.; two sons, Jerome (Renita0 and Harry White; her father and mother, Willie and Rosa Brown; two sisters, Rosa McCrea and Lula Brown; two brothers, John Henry and Wesley Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memories; Samuel (Millie) White, Dorothy (Lewis Henry, Mary C. White, Charles White and Benjamin (Deborah) White; 33 grandchildren; 82 great grandchildren; 29 great-great grandchildren; a host of special nieces, nephews, family and friends. Very special friends, Hattie Jackson, Gladys and Beverly George.

Easter did not have favorite grandchildren but there were some who made her special to them. Thank you, Kristie R., Vaness M. Rodney H, Tyler H, Roman N, Capri G, Darrell J Cumbee, Shirley W, Nikki O, Shamirrah B, Pebbles W, Brandon W, Shunda W and to her son-in-law, Bishop Lewis J. Henry.
