Obituary for Drilane Scott Garrett
Drilane Scott Garrett, born on December 22, 1966, to the late Robert L. Scott and Christabell Anderson, peacefully gained her wings and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 22, 2024, in her home, surrounded by her loving children, family, and dear friends.
Drilane was raised on Tad Road in the Spring Gully community of Andrews, South Carolina. At an early age she accepted Christ in her life as a member of her home church Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Williamsburg Blakely High School, proudly graduating with the Class of 1986. Shortly after, she met her childhood sweetheart and began a new chapter of her life in Germany.
Following the birth of her eldest son, Drilane returned to South Carolina, where her family continued to grow. Being a mother brought her immense joy and fulfillment, and this love for nurturing children led Drilane to discover her passion for Early Childhood Education.
Embracing this calling, she moved to North Carolina, where she built a fresh new life and launched her own home daycare, "D's Lovin Daycare." With a heart dedicated to the development of young minds, Drilane also pursued a higher education, earning her certifications in Early Childhood Education from Catawba Valley Community College.
Her daycare flourished, and after years of success, she relocated the business from her home to a larger facility she purchased, expanding enrollment and serving even more families. Drilane's commitment to nurturing children was evident in every aspect of her business. She was a beloved figure in the community, admired for her dedication, kindness, and the love she poured into her work.
Showing her continued passion and love for children, Drilane later adopted another son, Jonovon Garrett, further expanding her family and opening her heart even wider. After many successful years of operating D's Lovin Daycare, she eventually decided to close the business and explore other ventures. Her entrepreneurial spirit and compassion continued to shine throughout her life.
Drilane leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength. Her unwavering dedication to her family and community will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her children: Gwendolyn Scott ,Emmett Jacobs Jr, ( Kierra), Paul Turner and Jonovon Garrett all of Hickory, NC; her three sisters, Patricia Scott, Barbara Brown both of Andrews, SC and Pearline Scott of Hickory, NC; three brothers, Clifton Scott, Robbie Scott both of Andrews, SC and Elder Robert James Shackleford of Greenville, SC; Godbrother, Pastor Eddie Fulmore (Danielle) of Sumter SC; four aunts, Evangelist Eliza Cumbee, Hazel Furgerson, Ernestine Anderson, Bontrice Anderson all of Andrews, SC; six uncles, Tony Weaver of Sampson, NC, Ben Fulk of Jacksonville, FL, Larry Commodore, Cain Freeman both of Laurinburg, NC and Lonnie Freemen of Mullins, SC; her cherished grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
Though she has departed from this life, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the Lord's love.
