Obituary

With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Dora Lee Green, 93, of Greeleyville, SC, who passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026.

A Life Well Lived

Jesus says: " I am the resurrection and the life.

The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."

John 11:25

Dora Lee Green was born on October 28, 1932, in Manning, South Carolina, to the late Willis Dukes, Sr. and Minnie Carter-Dukes. She passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 18, 2026, surrounded by her daughters and family after a brief illness.

Dora received her education in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. She relocated to Troy, New York where she was joined in Holy Matrimony in 1954 to the late Lee E. Green. From this union they had two daughters, Catherine Elaine Green-Robinson and Dorothy Ann Green-Daniels.

Dora was employed by various companies, retiring from New York State Office of General Services and also retiring from a nursing home in Kingstree, South Carolina. She enjoyed her retirement for over 30 years and relocated back to her home in 1990.

Dora accepted Christ at a young age and attended Pine Grove A.M.E. Church in Manning, South Carolina until she relocated to New York. Upon relocation she attended Bethany Baptist Church in Albany, New York and St. Paul Baptist Church in Troy, New York. She was faithful to God most of her adult life, serving in various ministries including Ushers Ministry, Mothers Board and helping wherever she could. At the time of her death, she was a faithful and dedicated member of the St. John 4B Baptist Church in Greeleyville, South Carolina, where she had the honor of being selected as the Mother of the Church.

She had an unwavering love for her family and enjoyed flowers, shopping, attending picnics and community events. At the age of 16, Dora had the unimaginable task of taking care of her siblings due to the sudden passing of her mother. She was the matriarch of this family and we are all going to miss her.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Dora was preceded by:  three sisters, Anna Grant, Catherine Johnson, and Roxy Taylor; one brother, Louis Dukes; one son-in-law, Thomas O. Daniels, Jr.

Dora Lee is survived by: her daughters, Catherine (Jackie) E. Green-Robinson and Dorothy (The late Thomas) Ann Green-Daniels, both of Troy, NY. She is also survived by: her siblings, Willis Dukes Jr. of Greeleyville, SC, Queen E. Conyers and Mary (Leroy) Allen both of Troy, NY; three grandchildren, Jackie (Suzanne) Robinson, Jr. of Yonkers NY, Tiffany Robinson-Patterson and Thomas (Ely) Daniels, III, both of Troy, NY; five great-grandchildren, Ariana Robinson, Malik Robinson, Thomas Daniels IV, Elian Daniels and Jaxson Daniels; three sisters-in-law, Flora Carr, Rosa Moore and Sarah Brunson; one goddaughter, Carolyn Conyers-Thomas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and a church family who will miss her dearly.

The family is receiving friends and family at 956 Burgess Rd. Greeleyville, SC 29056 from 3:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. daily.

All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC. 843-354-2292.
