Obituary

Our dear Derris Lashawn Brown, age 28, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Derris was born in Guam, United States on November 18, 1993 to Amy Elizabeth Brown.

Derris was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend; who would always smile upon greeting. Derris was very well loved throughout his entire life by many family and friends and he will be missed terribly.

He graduated from West Florence High School in 2012, and proceeded to attend a University in 2014 for two years in Florence, South Carolina.

Derris was a cherished son, a well loved brother and respected friend. Derris enjoyed making others laugh, basketball, and making music. He was a very well talented artist. He produced and wrote songs that he dreamed one day would make the world stop and stare. He never would give up on his dreams and always strived to do the right things. Derris would often stop and converse with people everywhere he walked. He was so full of love, that he had to give it to anyone near him. He was a free spirited, wonderful, bright and hard working man. He would always give 100 percent of his might, no matter if the odds were against him. Derris will be deeply and immensely missed by all of his family and friends

Derris is survived by: his mother, Amy Brown; his brothers; Shemar Brown and Joseph Burgess; his sister, Tashie Burgess; aunts and uncles; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
