THOMAS' LIFE AND LEGACY
"There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens." -Ecclesiastes 3:1
A TIME TO BE BORN
On, Saturday, May 20, 1939, the world welcomed a Prince into the world named Thomas. God blessed the late Viola Mungin-Deas and Thomas Mungin, Sr. with this bundle of joy.
A TIME TO DIE
On Thursday, October 03, 2024, Thomas took flight and God received His Prince back into his arms.
A TIME TO BE NURTURED
THOMAS attended the local schools in the State of New York before starting his career in the United States Air Force, followed by decades of service with BellSouth, where he retired. After retirement, Thomas still had a passion for work which he took on many other odds and ends.
A TIME TO SERVE
THOMAS, affectionately known as, "BIG T, "TOMMY" ,"SWEET T AND "PAPA THOMAS" spent many years of his life in several social organizations such as The Sons of St. Andrews-Masonic Lodge, and the Arabian Temple #139. While a part of these organizations, Thomas was able to travel the country, where he connected with everyone he encountered.
Thomas was ALWAYS a joy to be around, and anyone who knew him knew he didn't bite his tongue. He had several favorite sayings, such as "Who's that calling my name?", and "I got to hustle."
THOMAS also had other things he enjoyed, such as talking on the phone to his buddies and watching tv. Not a day went by, and the TV was not on "Gunsmoke, The Rifle Man and other Westerns, and "Family Feud or Judge Judy. He also enjoyed cooking – no one stood a chance of getting the kitchen.
As time went on, Thomas became a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and on many other auxiliaries, until his health failed. In 2015 Thomas renewed his commitment to Christ Jesus as his personal savior. It always brought Thomas GREAT joy when he led devotional service and sang his favorite song "We Are Climbing Jacobs Ladder."
A TIME TO MOURN
THOMAS will forever be in our hearts and remembered; by his wife, Rose Doctor-Mungin; daughters, Ethyleen Mungin-Gaffney (Anthony), Niecy McKissick (Keith), Sarita Burks (Douglas), Crystal Green (Dalford) and Dametrice Brown; sons, Everett Mungin (Trinda), James Johnson, Josiah Johnson (Melissa) and Joshua Johnson (Meagan). He also leaves to cherish his loving memories with an abundance of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, special children, family, and friends.
