With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of David Lee Green, 52, of Columbia, SC, formerly of McClellanville, SC, who passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

Life Reflections

" And God, shall wipe all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, for the former things are past away."          Revelations 21:4

On April 19, 2025, the call of the Heavenly Father came peacefully and took our loved one to his heavenly home.

David Lee Green was born to the late Edna Blake-Green and the late Samuel Green on January 5, 1973 at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Affectionately known as "Smoke", "Dave", "Frankie D" and "Prez". He attended the public schools in Charleston County, and later graduated from Lincoln High School Class of 1991.

After graduation, David attended Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina where he became a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated in 1995 and obtained his Bachelors of Science Degree in 1998.

David had several jobs after college, but his passion was always helping and mentoring kids. He taught at Rivers Middle School in Charleston, SC for several years. David knew that this was his calling. If he couldn't help you, he wouldn't hurt you.

David's journey began in Georgetown, South Carolina, where he worked for the Associated Marine Institute. He worked for AMI for 26 years. He traveled near and as far as Albuquerque, New Mexico. He loved his kids at every facility where he directed. David dedicated many years empowering, mentoring and guiding children from all over. He was a man of integrity and knew that helping kids was his purpose.

David professed his faith in Jesus and was baptized at Lily Pond Missionary Baptist Church in the year of 2000.

David's unwavering devotion to his family and belief in God showed through the life he lived. "I may not attend church as much as I should, but I know that there is a higher power." His love for his family and faith will always be remembered as a source of comfort and inspiration.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Edna Blake-Green and Samuel Green; his sister, Jannie Green; brothers, Jerome Blake and Henry Green; his dear friend, Michael Horlback.

David leaves the following to cherish his loving memories: his sisters, Verline Gibbs of Georgetown, SC, Sheila Alston (Gerald) of McClellanville, SC, Latonya Green and Shelia Moultrie both of Georgetown, SC, Nakita Blake (Shawn) of McClellanville, SC and Shannon Glover (Kendrick) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his brothers, Rooselvelt Blake (Elaine) of Orangeburg, SC, Abraham Blake (Thawanna) of Georgetown, SC, Tarvis Blake (Stephanie) and Corey Singleton (Cheryl) both of Awendaw, SC and Sheldon Blake (G'Mesha) of Greensboro, NC; brother-in-law, Robert Green; sister-in-law, Alice Blake; uncle, Joe Blake (Sherlyn); aunts, Celia Jenkins (Alfred) and Willie Mae Taylor; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
