Kingstree
With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Burrie C. Fleming, 79, of Kingstree, SC, who passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Life Reflections
Those we love don't go away, they are beside us everyday, unseen, unheard but always near, so missed, so very dear.
On Sunday morning, June 22, 2025 our heavenly father stepped into his garden and sweetly picked a beautiful flower named Burrie and took her home.
Burrie C. Fleming was born August 27, 1945 to the late Laurie Cunningham & Mary Pressley. Burrie was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Paul, Walter, Albert and Harry Cunningham; two sisters, Dorothy M. Nesmith and Mae Pearl Graham.
Burrie graduated from Battery Park High School in Nesmith, South Carolina in 1965. Once she graduated, she moved to New York City, where she worked as a Mental Health Counselor on Wards Island for many years before returning to South Carolina.
Burrie was a devoted member at Friendship United Methodist Church, Nesmith, South Carolina. She served as chairperson of Circle #4 United Methodist Women of Faith Stewardess Board, Co-Chair of Old Adult Ministry, former member of the choir and the usher board.
Burrie was dedicated to her work as a caregiver, her nurturing spirit touched the lives of many countless children and families. Burrie was also pivotal in the lives of many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Her wisdom, humor, and unwavering support, in addition to her love for being a caregiver, she found great joy in gardening, a passion that was beautifully reflected in the vibrant flowers and lush greenery that surrounded her home. Burrie lived by her motto "If I can help someone, my living won't be in vain". She was kind and loving with a quiet spirit.
Burrie leaves to cherish her fond memories: her two sons, Wayne Cunningham (Juliette) of New Rochelle, New York and Alfred Cunningham of Spartanburg, SC; three grandsons, Damaron, Bryce and Carter Cunningham; one brother, Laurie J. Cunningham (Vannie) of Kingstree, SC; one sister, Mary S. Nesmith of Kingstree, SC; one brother-in-law, Lee Fleming (Elizabeth) of Kingstree, SC; two sisters-in-law, Etta Mae Cunningham of Bronx, NY and Rosa Fleming of Kingstree, SC; eight special friends, Alice "Pudden" Williams, Sarah McCutcheon, Rosa Lee Durant, Mary Graham, Gladys, Sam, Carrie Bradley and Edna Nesmith; along with hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
The family will be receiving guests at 159 Epps Road, Kingstree, South Carolina starting June 24, 2025.
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Kingstree, SC. 843-354-2292.
