A Time to Be Born

Berthina Ann Barr, was born on February 3, 1957, to the late Mr. Mose Williams and Mrs. Margaret McGill Willams. She was the second oldest of 10 children. Two siblings preceded her in death, Mose Williams Jr. and Andrienna Coretta Williams.

A Time for All Things

Berthina was born and raised in the nurturing fellowship of Elijah United Methodist Church. Ann developed a deep spiritual foundation that guided her throughout her life. She later became an active and engaged member of Williams Memorial CME Church, where she faithfully shared her gifts and extended compassion to everyone she encountered.

A proud graduate of Battery Park High School class of 1974, Ann continued her education at Shaw University, strengthening her commitment to learning, leadership, and community. Her gentle spirit, wisdom, and kindness made her a source of comfort and encouragement to many.

Ann, as she was affectionally called, was united in Holy Matrimony to Larry Barr in 2001. To this union, Ann gained 6 children and 12 grandchildren. One child preceded her in death, Larry Barr, Jr.

Though Ann did not have children of her own, she was a mother in every way that truly mattered. God used her life to nurture, guide, and pour love into countless others. She offered wisdom, prayer, gentle correction, and unwavering support, becoming "Mom" to so many who were blessed to know her. Her legacy lives on in the many sons and daughters of the hearts she leaves behind.

Loved ones who will cherish her memories are: her husband, Larry Barr; his children, Zaina Aroush Salaam "Mia", Bruce Jackson, Reverend Dr. Tony Barr (Sharon), Andra Rosbor (Tilly), and Shune McCullough. Seven siblings will cherish her memories: Jean (Rev. John Wesley) Rogers, Henry (Doretha) Williams, Carol (Tommy) Turner, Kimber (Robert) Cooper, Arlette (Evan) Cooper, Roderick (Andrea) Williams, Michelle (Nathaniel) Pressley, Gregory (Ann) McGill and Vernie (Cathy) Williams. Her legacy also includes three additional grandchildren, Nadia, Morgan, and Madison Pressley; a host of nieces and nephews who she referred to as, "her babies". Her in-laws include, Sandra Faye Barr, Winfred (Pam) Barr, and Peggy Barr; two uncles; Nathaniel (Dorothy) McGill and Henry (Denise) McGill; eight aunts, Willie Mae Burroughs, Josephine Flournoy, Viola Murphy, Rosa Lee Mims, Bessie (Tony) Rivera, Hazel (Joshua) Gaskins, Pat McGill, Barbara Williams and Mildred Williams; godchiildren, Sandrita Monique Eaddy, Gregory McGill and Rhyan Weaver; and a host of cousins, friends, and her special extended family at the United States Postal Service.
