With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Antoine K. Burgess, 40, formerly of Kingstree, SC, husband of Tacara Gore, who passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025.

Life Reflections

Antoine Kenyon Burgess known as "Toine" was the first-born child of Shannon S. Stillman and Al Burgess.  He was born on December 09, 1984 in Florence, South Carolina. On Friday, September 05, 2025, God sent an angel to gently tap the shoulders of Antoine Kenyon Burgess, calling him home for eternal rest.

Antoine received his education in the public school system of Kingstree, SC and graduated with class of 2004 from Ponter Adult Education. Always driven and hardworking, he went on to attend Florence-Darlington Technical College, where he earned a trade certificate in HVAC. He was previously employed at Camping World RVs in Byron, GA.  At the time of his passing, he was employed at Nyle Maxwell in Killeen, TX. He joined Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Jerome Wilson. He kept his mind and heart pure, knowing that a man of God fights the good fight of faith with strength and conviction.

"Toine" was a loving son, a devoted husband, a brother full of wisdom and guidance, the first-born nephew, a true friend, and AMAZING father. His greatest claim to fame was being a genuinely dedicated daddy to his three beautiful girls. He was a special person to many.  He deeply loved his family, and one of his quotes was "I'm my family's keeper; with the help of God, we can get through anything".  He had a rare gift - the ability to make others laugh, even in life's most difficult moments. Where some might see only hardship or negativity, he chose to find the good, the hope, and the humor.  In doing so, he became a light for those around him.

"Toine" was united in Holy Matrimony to Tacara N. Gore.  To this union three children were born.  His girls were his heart, he provided for them in a way that was unmatched.

Antoine was preceded in death by: his grandfather, Charles Burgess; and two uncles, Frederick Burgess and Gregory Johnson.

Loved one left to cherish his memories are:  his beloved wife, Tacara N. Gore of Killeen, TX; three beautiful daughters, Anaiah Burgess, Aeryn Burgess, and Aubrielle Burgess all of Killeen, TX; his loving mother, Shannon S. Stillman of Killeen, TX; his father, Al Burgess of Alpopka, FL; his grandmothers    (second mom), Mary Johnson Stillman of Jacksonville, FL and Vera Bradshaw of Alpopka, FL; his grandfather, Selmon Green of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, Avril D. Stillman of Florence, SC and Santonio B. Stillman of Florence, SC; five aunts, Bridgette (Miller) Volmy of Johns Creek, GA, Selvy Stillman of Lake City, SC, Stedra (Alex) Stillman of Alexandria, VA, Janene (Eric) Barr of Jacksonville, FL and Deborah Burgess-Bratcher of Alpopka, FL; two uncles, Terrell R. Stillman of Columbia, SC and Brett A. Green of Charlotte, NC; his mother-in-law,  Angela Burgess of Hephzibah, GA;  his father-in-law, Stanley Gore Jr. of El Paso, TX; one sister-in-law, Angenae Gore of Fort Wainwright, Alaska; two brothers-in-law, Emmanuel Burgess of Hephzibah and Alijah Burgess; seven grandaunts,    Marthella Johnson and Pertella McCrea both of Kingstree, SC, Iverydell Staggers and Anna Pearl Burgess both of Alpopka, FL, Thelma (Calvin) Faison and Mary Tisdale both of Kingstree, SC and Mabel (James) Gamble of Snellville, GA; three granduncles, Joe (Margaret) Johnson of Chesapeake, VA, Edward Nixon and Lee Grant Burgess of Alpopka, FL; two close friends that he saw as brothers, James Bass and Jermaine Brown; a host of close cousins, other relatives and special friends.
