Dec 28, 1941 — May 14, 2025
New York
With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Annie Bell White, 83, of New York, NY, who passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
Life Reflections
Sis. Annabelle was born on December 28, 1941 in Pineville, SC to the late Bro. Hector Daniel and Sis. Lucinda Johnson White. "Annabelle" was the third of twelve among her siblings; a woman of deep faith, resilience and compassion. She faced life's challenges with unwavering grace and left a lasting mark on everyone she encountered. "Annabelle' dedicated her life to raising her family, sharing wisdom, and offering care to all who needed it.
She joined St. Luke A.M.E. Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Richard R. Stokes and continue to serve under the late Rev. S. Frank Emmanuel and former Pastor, Rev. Melvin E. Wilson. She was a faithful member of Class #29 and the Allan Brown Choir. However, due to continued failing health, she was not able to attend services or maintain her membership under the preceding Pastors.
She was known far and wide for her Fish Fry Fridays, where family, friends and neighbors would gather for good food, laughter, and love. In the 1990s, she ran a beloved tradition of selling chicken and fish dinners on Saturdays - a true community staple. Her game nights were legendary, full of friendly competition, great music, and even better stories. "Annabelle" created spaces where everyone felt at home and welcomed with open arms.
Annie Bell "Annabelle" beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend entered eternal rest at the age of 83 on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Surrounded by love, she transitioned peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, faith and unconditional love.
As we gather to honor her life, we offer this prayer: "Dear GOD, it's me again. You know the situation that our family is in at this time. You understand how our minds won't stop racing with thoughts about everything. Please help lift the burdens from our shoulders and let go of the things we cannot control. Remind us that no matter what it looks, seems or feels like - you are in control. Place a hedge of protection over us. Also, help us to get through these hard times. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen."
"Annabelle" leaves behind a large and loving family. She was the devoted mother of six; her one and only daughter, Sabrina White and her five sons, Richard White, Rodney (Karen) White, James White, Reggie White and Sammy White. She also opened her heart and home to five children she lovingly adopted as her own, Christopher Brown, Zhonvel Brown, William Brown, Tyrone Brown and her baby, Lester Brown.
Her legacy continues through 16 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and countless others whose lives she touched. "Annabelle" is survived by her cherished sisters, Queen Hester Mack Loftin, Selinda (Jerome) Ravenell and Sylvia Washington; and her devoted brothers, Eugene White, Moses White, Clement White and Rickey White. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever remember her warmth, wisdom, and the strength she embodied.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing that "Annabelle" is now at rest, wrapped in the arms of her Savior. Her spirit lives on in each of us, and her memory will forever be our guide.
