Andrew's Story

His Birth......

AndrewSimmons, to many known as "Spike" was born on September 26, 1955, in Summerville, SC, to the late Mr. John and Sarah H. Simmons. Andrew was the 10th child of 15 siblings.

His Purpose.....

Andrew was educated in the public school system in Summerville, SC. He worked a few odd jobs before relocating to Jersey City, NJ. There he met his wife, Ruth Williams. Shortly into the courtship they were married in 1971. Early on, he provided for his new family by working with his big brother the late Kernell Simmons. In 1980 they welcomed their first and only child, Talayia Simmons, better known to all as Choo-Choo. Andrew started his first business A.R.T Transportation which stood for (Andrew/Ruth/Talayia Transportation). Andrew was especially proud of becoming a grandparent, cherishing his role in the lives of his beloved grandson, Tristen, and granddaughter Talia.

A devoted fan of the New York Jets, Andrew found joy in watching games, whether in person or on a big screen, and he cherished the excitement of football season.

Beyond sports, Andrew had a passion for the arts, frequently attending plays and concerts, where he could immerse himself in the performances he loved. He had a special fondness for sweets, particularly his mother's raisin bread pudding, his sister Wilhemina's carrot cake, his brother Levi's sweet potato pies and Nikki's banana pudding, all of which brought him immense happiness.

Music was another significant part of Andrew's life; he was especially fond of the group Earth, Wind and Fire, and could often be found driving along I-95 listening to his favorite song. He enjoyed dressing up for any occasion, taking pride in his appearance from head to toe.

Andrew also found peace and tranquility in nature, often taking long walks in the park. He was a loving family member, relishing the time spent with his loved ones whenever possible. Andrew Simmons will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his passion for life, and the joy he brought to those around him.
